ATT UVerse Inconsistent Internet

Hello,

I have been a UVerse customer for about a year now and recently started experiencing some issues.  I play online games and use programs such as TeamSpeak and Ventrilo.  Lately my ping has been spiking from its usual 70-80 to 300-1000+ and my download speed is handicapped.  I am paying for 18Mbps/1.5  down/up.  Sometimes I get the speeds I am supposed to (around 12~) and others I get 1-2Mbps down.  There are maybe 30 seconds-1minute inbetween lag spikes.

I ran a spyware/malware check on my pc and connected my laptop to the gateway but still experienced the issue.  I chatted with a support guy and they scheduled a tech to come out in two weeks but I was wondering if anyone here could give me any more insight before the visit.

In summary, at times my speeds are what they should be but I encounter lag spikes every minute or so.

I have the same issue lately. Fine for a year and now all of the sudden awful lag spikes. Are you wireless?

same for me and it has been like this for well over a month now. I called a tech in, but when he visited my home, it was working fine, and when he left, it went right back to <0.1mbps my connection is wired & my computers are sound.

Maybe you should call him back and lock him in a closet.

This is exactly what is happening with myself.  I've had U-verse for over 2 years now and just this week this problem has been happening.

It will spike for ~30seconds and go back down for ~30 seconds and repeat the cycle over again.  Any help?

Have you disconnected any and all other things that might be using your HSI connection while you are conducting this PING test?  Have you used UVREALTIME to see what your link's utilization, and or error rate, is during the windows where you are experiencing higher latency?

Yes...I often have serious internet speed issues. I think they lack adequate bandwidth to serve X number of customers in an area. It often happens at night while more people watch TV. They will not acknowledge this issue. I am about ready to switch to Concast. its been 2 years of pure frustration.
