American Movie Classics (AMC) Channel

Hi, I recently signed up for ATT U-Verse and overall love it but I have one huge complaint.    The listing of channels does not include AMC.    I am a huge fan of Mad Men and the season premiere is tomorrow night.  I planned on taping it because now I can!!!!!! and see that AMC is not offered!   What kind of crap is that!   It is my fault for not noticing that U-verse does not offer AMC, but I can tell you that it would have been a deal breaker had I known that AMC was not offered.   That is an awesome channel and it goes hand in hand with TMC, A@E  Bravo.   I am upset about this and may consider going back to Time Warner. 

It is unbelievable that AMC is not offered.   Please, if you have anything to do with it, try to get this channel in your offerings.

if history repeats itself  AMC  seems to be a channel that shows up after a market goes live (but not at the beginning)

not really sure about this but going from the history of other posts about the channel..

It took about 6 months for the channel to come online here in the Cleveland market.  That doesn't do you any good for Mad Men, though.

I'm pretty sure we had AMC from the beginning. 

It's one of DH's favorites and I think I would've noticed if it wasn't offered from Day 1.  But I suppose different markets could offer different lineups.

          I am in the bay area of California we get AMC on channel 796 i have been able to get it since i signed up in Feb hopefully this helps you as i do not know what area of the country you are in, it shows up in every package except u-family, on my channel line up.

You don't say where you are, but I know right now it's not available in the Milwaukee(SE Wis) market.  Has to do with the contract AT&T has, hopefully they will get a contract to cover these areas.  For now though we are out of luck until this is remedied.

shoe, you had AMC etc and then they were gone. TS told you they would be back when the server stuff was done.

It might be worth a call to them and ask again, as UVTVguru was specifically replying regarding about those who have not had these channels at all yet.

Do a search there for AMC. They have a lot, but most of it looks lik excerpts. Looks like they have some video at the AMC website also.

Yep. Just pick one out, sit back, and enjoy.

Just watch what you pick out. They have a lot of excerpts only which only run a minute or so, but the full length ones will say full length and give a time also.

I was watching some of the St Elsewhere episodes from season 1 a while back. I wish they would offer the whole series on DVD, but right now only season 1 is available anywhere.

Does anyone know if AMC programs will be added to the VOD line-up? I was searching online for Mad Men's season 1 episodes and discovered that they are available for free from most cable providers but not from UVERSE. My only option is to pay $1.99 per episode online. If I have a complaint at all about UVERSE (which I otherwise love), it's that their VOD programming could use some serious beefing up (in number of networks (i.e., AMC) and number of new and old (dvd) releases available). I started searching for "The Shooter" on VOD several months ago when it was released to DVD but had to wait until it showed up on Showtime.

Sorry philo, but that is something we aren't really privvy to.

Just keep checking the VoD section because it seems to me, they are always doing something to add to it.

I know that no provider can meet 100% of our wants but to take 11 months after DVD release to make a movie such as "Shooter" available isn't going to cut it. Let's get serious about meeting if not beating the competitions programming.

I am seeing Shooter several times on Showtime, and it is listed as a VoD item.

It says released 2007, movie about Marines?

Or are you saying they were very late in just LISTING it?

I'm saying that it wasn't available until 8-2-08 when the DVD released 9-17-07. I know that we can't expect everything to show up on VOD the same day as DVD but 11 months??? I'm curious as to how that compares to Cablevision, Charter, Time-Warner, Comcast, Rogers, etc. BTW, all these guys have AMC and other non-premium channel programs on VOD.
