Another Guide Comment

Just went to record SNL this comming Saturday and the Guide list "John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd" as the stars for this new episode. I wish either AT&T or yahoo would purchase there guide info from elseware. This has to be my bigest complaint with the service, With out good guide info, I dont care how good and how many fetures the DVR has. What good are they if recordings get skiped, re-runs get recorded, ext, ext, ext.

It looks as if the generic information is being pulled and the guide is limited to the first actors listed.

Personally, I think the guide is TONS better than the drek I had with Time Warner.

I like the gude to but I have wondered why they are listing the originals on snl. Uverse wasn't around back then how could they have that info now?

Like I said, till the guide gets fixed the DVR will never be up to par. The Guide with Dish was great! It was much easer to read and the data was very good!

Well the guide on U-verse doesn't seem to be anywhere near as accurate as the one I had with DirecTV.

Every episode of SNL displays this way on the U-verse guide. I've just learned to ignore it so far.

Just like the episodes of Battlestar Galactica used to show Lorne Greene and Richard Hatch there. That was the original version but what was actually being shown was the new version.

The guide was updated to show the correct stars also.

another guide question, and not sure if it has been asked before, but...i notice when the guide displays my HD channels, that some shows have the "HD" icon next to them, but the rest of the programming might not. does this mean that programming without the icon is not real HD? or just that program guide info from the source happened to include an icon...

From what I remember, the HD icon was a flag that was set to Y/N based on information from the channels themselves. Some folks like Fox sent specific stuff, but others like TBS basically sent zip.

Since my old credentials still work, here's what Fox sends for The Simpsons

I wanted to record a movie on Cinemax the other day and figured I would do the HD one, but the logo wasn't on there, so I set it to record the SD channel instead.

As it turned out, we watched the movie on the HD channel and it WAS in HD, so I don't know what to think when I see or don't see that logo anymore.

They had other movies listed on that same channel with the HD logo, so figure that one out.

Well, not sure you want to do that either. You know what happens when someone assumes things.

I think, you can safely assume that if the logo is there, it will be HD. If it isn't, yet it is an HD channel, that's where the guessing game comes in.

On OTA (over the air or broadcast) stations and things like ESPN, it's pretty easy to tell by simply seeing if the picture is cropped with bars on the left/right of if it encompasses the whole screen. (or at least it is for the owner of a widescreen TV). It gets tricky though on things like TBS and TNT where they upconvert the heck outta stuff -- although I'd be willing to bet all the sports are HD on those two examples -- and pass it off as HD. I'd also doubt their repsective marketing departments at Turner would want folks realizing it's really not HD.
