gwillis01 - I am replying on a a Mac.
You can access the internet with Safari. I find Google Chrome works better. I also find it is better to set the DNS server to Google 8.8.8.8.
This is done in system preferences, internet,
network.
Many people have troubles with att mail. New users are not supported in use of mail systems such as Apple mail. Apple mail may or may not work with your att e-mail. You would have to access the e-mail via Safari or another browser.
If you have the least bit of trouble with att e-mail - open a gmail account, download anything you may have in the att e-mail then set att to forward mail to gmail.
My gmail works great with macmail.

I use Open DNS and MacMail the browser works fine with the exception Apple needs to tune it up a bit and mail on occasions will ask for password which most of the time if you ignore it and hit cancel it will return to normal.
