How do you people determine when to not show the Atlanta Braves games and show a 2 year old poker game or last years college world series?
I thought you were supposed to be a big supporter of the Atlanta Braves. If so why does Charter Cable TV have all of the Braves games and you can't. I'm glad my initial contract is up so I can get back to Charter and start seeing the Braves games that I was promised I would be able to see on U-verse. I will also have better internet speed which I gave up to get the "free" DVR. And the picture won't freeze up like I have a satellite dish.

Actually, you still have the "channels" you were "promised" just not the braves games. You read the link posted above, so you know why.

Think of it like this. You go to buy a new car. You agree on the price, sign a contract and before you are able to drive out the door, the salesman comes back and said, you need to pay for the seats and the tires. That's basically what the Foxsports channels are doing, they have a signed contract in place with AT&T and then they decided to charge more for items that they have "picked up" this year. If FoxSports in Dallas did that because they picked up the Friday night games from TV-21 and tried to charge a higher price I'd complain to FS.

U-Verse goes up to 24mbps. If you're not getting the speed you're paying for, perhaps the problem is on your end. I'm sure a visit from a technician can solve the issue.
As for the free DVR, keep that in mind when you're getting "free HD" from the cable co with their analog channels and the need to pay to record, using their two-tuner DVR. You're ether going to pay for a two-tuner DVR with cable, or the HD service from other providers. And I don't think AT&T says it's free. "Free" and "included" are NOT the same thing.
As for the picture freezing, once again, it sounds like an issue on your end. I would call for a service visit. I, too, had problems, but I called. Now, I have none.
Same thing with the satellite excuse. 99.9% of bars have satellite dishes. How many times are you at a BW3's or your local neighborhood sports bar and the picture goes out? I'm a regular viewer of satellite TV, as that's what they have at my local bar, and the picture only went out once in the past several years. Oddly enough, it was because of a storm, but the cable ALSO went out at that same time.
Most picture quality issues are because of something on the user's end, whether that be faulty equipment, a bad install, or even a faulty connection somewhere in the premises.

We signed up with Uverse because we wanted better service at a lower price. Not only are we having difficulty with intermittant service, but now we discover that most of the Braves games are blacked out. My husband was thrilled when we thought that we'd have access to the sports package, but guess what sport he watches more than anything? That's right, he's a huge Braves fan and now he can't see most of the games. If Uverse doesn't make Braves baseball available, we will be going back to Direct TV. As I write this, the technician who was supposed to fix our intermittant service has only been gone from our home for a few hours. He was scheduled to arrive between 4 and 9 pm and arrived around 8:40. The service has already gone out again. This is rediculous. I'm calling ATT as soon as the internet and phone return.

I realize this is your first post, but doing a little searching would have brought up the same topic from the day before
Atlanta Braves and Atlanta Braves games not carried.

I changed to AT&T U-verse on Tuesday, July 6, 2011, and was looking forward to watching an Atlanta Braves baseball game that evening. To my surprise, U-verse does not carry the Braves games. Please tell me if there is a way to get live transmission of Atlanta Braves games on AT&T U-verse. If it cannot be done, I will probably cancel my service (which started on 7/5/11) and return to Comcast, where the Braves games. By the way, I subscribed to the U450 package and was told it would carry blacked-out games that were unavailable elsewhere. Perhaps you can find the salesperson who said that and educate her about available services.
I am so frustrated trying to get an answer to my question. Trying to identify someone authoritative and knowledgeable appears to be impossible. What I am experiencing is not at all what the ubiquitous U-verse advertising promises.

If you are not in the Braves territory you will not recieve their games. The only way to get out of market games for MLB regardless of provider is to purchase MLB Extra Innings. Currently AT&T has no subscription services except Fox Sports +. The same rules for NBA and NHL games apply. If you are not in the territory you will not recieve the games.

OUfan.. I think you missed the part where he changed on July 6th, but the service started on July 5th.
I'm interested to learn how the service started the day before he switched.
The bottom line here is that U-Verse is not willing to bend to the demands of whoever is offering the Braves games to a limited number of AT&T customers.
When the Braves TV channel acquired additional games, they wanted more money. Honestly, I can understand this.
However, I do not want to pay more for my service in Ohio because AT&T is bending over for a baseball team I don't have access to or even care about. I'm sure most people outside the Braves territory feel the same way.
Dear Atlanta-based U-Verse subscriber,
The Kansas City Royals are asking more money for additional games not discussed during original contract negotiations.
Because other providers in KC have agreed to pay more money for these games which recently came onto the schedule, we have to charge you more money, in order to maintain the same prices all throughout the country.
Sincerely,
AT&T

Here is what really irrks me. I went and subscribed to the HD Premium Tier (5.00 monthly) so I could watch the Braves on their oppositions channel, and wouldn't you know it they were blacked out in my area. Keep in mind now that I'm 5 hours from Atlanta. But tonight they were playing the Rockies in Colorado and they were still blacked out. WHY? Someone from AT&T please explain to me how that works. If it's only a money issue for AT&T and they won't pay it, the clock is ticking until I can return to Direct TV.

MLB sets the blackout rules not AT&T. Enter your zip code in this link and see which teams you should be recieving. All other games will be blacked out in your area.

1. Every location in the country is in one (usually, sometimes more than one) team's home area. This is considered your "home" team. For you, it is most likely the Atlanta Braves. You can see which team is your home team by looking at the MLB blackout map here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:MLB_Blackout_Are
2. Home teams have broadcast deals with certain channels. If you subscribe to a package with a provider that gets those channels, you will see all games for your home team. The Atlanta Braves have broadcast agreements with:
Fox Sports Network - South (FSS)
SportsSouth (SPSO)
Peachtree TV (PTV)
Also, there are occasional Braves games on a national channel, such as FOX or ESPN.
3. AT&T carries Fox Sports Network South (FSS) and SportsSouth (SPSO) channels. AT&T has an agreement to carry Peachtree TV, but only in the Atlanta area. Outside the Atlanta area, AT&T does not carry PeachtreeTV.
4. Some other broadcasters, such as DirecTV, have a limited rebroadcast agreement with PeachtreeTV. Basically what that means is that they don't carry PeachtreeTV outside Atlanta, but are able to carry Braves games outside Atlanta by temporarily picking up the PeachtreeTV feed and rebroadcasting it on a non-24/7 channel. AT&T currently does not have such a retransmission agreement with Peachtree TV.
5. What that means is that if a Braves game is carried solely on PeachtreeTV, AT&T can only show it in the Atlanta city area, not in the entire Braves market.
Tonight's Braves vs. Rockies game is being shown on both PeachtreeTV as well as Fox Sports Network South (FSS). AT&T U-Verse subscribers in the Braves market can watch the game on FSS.
6. MLB prohibits anyone from watching an out-of-market game or out-of-market feed. Tonight's Braves vs. Rockies game is also on Root Sports in the Colorado market. Even if you subscribe to AT&T's HD Premium tier, which normally gets you Root Sports, the game will be blacked out there in the Atlanta market. You will have to watch the game on FSS.
7. Similarly, the Braves vs. Rockies game also happens to be on MLB Network tonight. Neither the Colorado market nor the Atlanta market can watch it there, however, it will be blacked out. Only a market that is out-of-market for both teams (such as Houston) can see it on MLB Network.
8. MLB sells a package that allows you to watch out-of-market games and out-of-market feeds for all MLB games. This package is called MLB Extra Innings, and usually costs around $200 per year. AT&T currently does not carry this package. If they did, and you bought it, you could watch all games without blackouts on any channel.

So what you are saying is that AT&T would like to be associated with cable providers like Uwarrie, Peoples Cable, Cequel III Programming, and the other 25 services that don't give into the Braves oppressive demands?
Obviously AT&T doesn't want to be associated with the likes of DirectTV, Comcast, Cox, Time Warner, Charter, Dish (i.e. the Big Boys) and the other 115 cable providers that will pay the blood money demanded by the Braves. These guys just broke when the mighty Atlanta Braves Network demanded trucks full of money. These companies are weak.
The link provided above has not enraged me even more, I've completely forgotten about the fact my sales person lied to me. No. I now understand that my salesperson was only misinformed, because I have now been shown the light of AT&T's righteousness. Now I feel bad for being hostile towards AT&T. I thought AT&T just wasn't providing good customer service when in the last year it slipped from number 7 to 12 in the Fortune 500 list. In fact, it was because AT&T was taking a principled stand for its customers. Apologies.

So FoxSports is blackmailing other markets besides St. Louis. What's bad is other providers will allow breach of contract to happen and pay the ransom to broadcast the other games and will pass on the cost to their subscribers. Until providers start standing up to the extorsion by the broadcasters this type of situation will continue to exist.

I thought U-Verse became a "Big Boy" when they picked up MLB Network?
I'm gonna have to have someone research this whole Big Boy thing because I'm quite confused as to what constitutes the bestowage of the Big Boy label.

It is very disappointing that AT&T has only purchased the rights to broadcast 45 Atlanta Braves games on Fox Sports South and Sports South. This little bit of information was not shared when they were selling me on switching to AT&T. I was told that I would have access to the games with those channels, not I would have access to a limited number of games.
I would really like to see AT&T expand to carry all the available games.

what is really bad is that last night or Tuesday, the game was listed in the guide and in the onscreen info and the slide said no programming at this time.

AT&T did not purchase broadcast rights to 45 games, it is a dispute between Fox Sports and AT&T. AT&T has a contract in place with the networks and in the middle the networks changed programming and demanded more money. The same situation is going on with AT&T and Fox Sport Missori and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Did ATT pull all weeknight Braves games? While my TW breathren are watching the games on Fox carolinas, I never seem to see one unless it's the weekend. Not even on MLB cause it's blacked out due to my supposedly being able to view elsewhere.
I know that SOME of the Fox games were on earlier in the year and that all these games I am missing couldn't be Peachtree TV games....some are away games and Peachtree only does home games.
Can someone 'splain?

It is the Peachtree games that we are missing. Fortunately, the last PTV game was last week so as long as you live in Braves territory you should get the remaining games. While it seems like there were more, there were actually only 45 games that were not televised.
What I am hoping is that before next season U-verse works things out with Fox or Peachtree or whoever needs to be worked with in order to be sure we get our Braves here in Braves Country!
