Many times, we have paused the hockey, basketball, football, etc., game when it's time to put our boys to bed. Upon returning to the T.V. to continue watching our game, my husband will often accidentally press the channel up/down button and all the information that WAS recorded to the hard drive while paused is LOST! We end up switching to a re-run of CSI Miami, or the like, when he really meant to un-pause our program. He's become accustomed to just hitting "Record," but like to be able to simply pause the program and have a warning pop up on the screen if he's about to inadvertently change the channel and resume live television. This way, we don't have to think about deleting it from the recordings list.
We are anxiously awaiting the day when ATT will post a message on the screen warning, "You are about to resume watching LIVE T.V." when you accidentally hit the channel up/down instead of volume, or any other key.

I think I understand the problem you're having. But I need to ask.....are you saying that a feature should be incorporated that can "sense" and anticipate what your husband is about to do and instantly warn him that it's the wrong move? That would be a great feature but not possible IMHO. I think a better idea is for him to do what I had to learn to do......LOOK before pushing a button on the remote. Oh yeah....and THINK.![]()

Wow - I have to say I would hate that.
Everytime I pause something and then decide to change the channel I would get a pop up asking if that is what I want to do. That would drive me nuts. I think recording the show is a much better option than annoying all the other users that don't have a problem unpausing a show.

I'm guessing you might have been a former Dish customer. We were and I know that feature well.
Some may think it annoying, but it was a nice reminder if you weren't on live TV and about to lose any buffered time.
We're new to Uverse and it has alot of nice features, but it seems they forgot some of the little things.

Just like the "reminder" feature that someone mentioned last week, it would be useful but I would like to see it as an option. That way the folks who don't want it - wouldn't have it. Please be advised - this may be a patented feature and UV may not be able to get it, anyway.

I'm so glad to see that someone else would find a 'return to live TV "warning" ' helpful. I actually just signed up for this community forum to express the very same suggestion/complaint. So often I have had the channel instantly change by inadvertently pressing a remote control button while picking up the remote to unpause the program I wanted to resume watching....OR...my dogs jump up on the couch and land on the remote, and *poof* my program is gone. I am trying to get into the habit of recording a program when I am interrupted from watching it, but there are times that the show had ended on live TV and recording is not possible. I came from Dish network and their insight with respect to ease of use and their customer convenient features, I feel, I far superior to those available on UV. I will be switching back to Direct as soon as my contract allows.
