Hello,
I thought I would find the answer to this question on the board, but I didn't. I hope I didn't just miss it.
I am using the 3600HGV. Is there a software-based way to shut off the Internet connection (blocking all LAN traffic would be acceptable, too) through just one of the Ethernet ports?
Thank you.
J

Thanks very much for your reply. I could not find any such function in its software but wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking something.

Ah, but this means someone -- oh, let's say a son or daughter, for instance -- can always just unplug a cable from the smart switch and back into the RG, if the RG is not locked up or under guard, correct? And I gather from doing some browsing here, that I don't have any alternatives to the 2Wireless gateway if I'm on U-verse, so I'm kind of stuck in terms of selectively shutting down Internet access.

To prevent this, the RG (and possibly other network hardware) must be in a physically secured/locked location.

I suppose that's true. Originally, I was envisioning a password-protected function in the RG that would do what I wanted. While not fool-proof, that would be enough of a barrier in this particular situation. I appreciate your responding to my questions--thanks.
