Depending on your distance from the VRAD, you will be initially setup on a 2 HD / 2 SD (25 MB Profile) or 1 HD / 3 SD Profile (19 MB Profile), the farther away from the VRAD, the more likely it will be the lesser profile.
Good News for most HD Fans, rumor has it, in the coming weeks, they will introduce a new 3 HD / 1 SD Profile, for customers who currently have the 2 HD / 2 SD Profile.
I hope this helps. Welcome to U-Verse! ![]()

I'm assuming 5 HDTVs? Will they all be on at the same time? If so, Uverse can only supply up to 2 live HD channels that those 2 could be watched on all 5 TVs; as a live HD stream could be watched on all 5 TVs at the same time. Recorded streams will also be up to 2 HD and those could only be watched on up to 2 TVs, this is a discrete stream limit not like live streams.
The proposed 3 HD will only be available to those w/in 2200' from the VRAD and not all 2HD/2SD subscribers. ![]()

Wow, was kind of mislead when ordering. 4 people in house so may not be an issue all the time but definitely could be some of the time.
Thanks for the info, I hope I am within 2200'!!

If all of your TV's are watching the same HD program....then they can do that. BUT....at any given time there are just 2 HD streams available so if you have two TV's tuned to two different HD programs...then that all you can use. Additional HD TV's would have to be tuned to one of the same HD channels you are already watching or tuned to an SD channel.

Actually it would work, w/a little planning since in total there are 4 HD streams (2 live, 2 recorded) available at any one time. Careful planning of recordings ('cable' channels always rerun programs after the Eastern prime time) will avoid many problems. 2200' encompasses a large portion of the 2 HD/ 2SD subscriber base, so there is a good chance to be w/in 2200' (didn't the installer give you an idea how close/far?). ![]()

No, it is to be installed on the 5th. After a little investigation, I believe I am only 200' or so from the main box. Hopefully will have strong clear signal and eventually get more HD streams. W/ Dish I have 3 seperate dual tuner DVR's w/ off air locals and 5 total receivers so never considered there would be an issue with HD feeds. Thanks for the post.

hi brand new to U Verse. Here are my stats. I get only 1 HD stream right now and the tech said I was 3000 feet away from the Center.. But my question is if I give up some bandwith with the internet ( Currently on 12 MBPS) will I get 2 HD Streams?

Nope, won't make a bit of difference, so keep your internet speed if you like and can afford it. You'd need about 5M more in max rate to be able to get a stable 25/2M profile w/2 HD streams. Might want to do a Dohrenburg chart to see what your signal looks like:

Good luck ![]()

I checked out the diagnostics for our connection earlier today, and our current connection is 32/5, max 60Mbit.
Do I just call up AT&T and request the change to 3HD/1SD profile? Certainly we have the bandwidth available.
Internet speed is only 12Mbit. Only having 2 HD streams available when you have 3 HD tvs is becoming quite annoying.

Currently, the 3HD profile is not available in all markets. You can call Technical Support to see if it is available in your market, and if it is request to be upgraded.

Keep in mind that 2200' is NOT "as the crow flies" but rather distance of wire. If your VRAD is "down the street and around the corner" it could be too far away, even though it could really be 2000' in a straight line.
...just something to keep in mind.
