Can't connect to internet through ethernet.

So my computer won't connect to my RG through an ethernet cable. When I connect it it gives me a connected status for my network status but I can't access the internet. I just get the page cannot be displayed message. This worked fine with Cox before so it's not a network card issue as far as I can tell. They just hooked me up wirelessly to the router instead of wired. Any ideas on how to fix this?

Suggest you call tech support on this one. They'll walk you through the standard script on this. It could be any number of things on your computer but it's almost certainly your computer.

Before you sit on the phone with tech support...make sure your wired network connection is set to DHCP (get IP address automatically). Other than that it could be a strange setting in the RG bloccking your MAC address.

Have you run Connection Wizard or Network Diagnostics not sure what OS you are running. Also try a different ethernet port on the RG .

I've run the connection wizard and my network status shows up as connected. I've also tried two different cables and different ports on the RG. Where do I go to check the DHCP setting?

May want to try a crossover cable versus the regular ethernet. Have found some RG's need this.

If the RG requires a crossover something is wrong and it should be replaced.

To check DHCP:

XP:

1.Start/Control Panel - double click Network Connections

2.Right click on the wired connection and choose properties.

3.Choose TCP/IP and click Properties.

4.Make sure both radial buttons are set on "Obtain...automatically"

Vista:

Start/Control Panel - double click Network and Sharing Center

On the left, click Manage Network Connections and follow steps 2-4.
