Client Initializa tion Errer

At around 8pm DST this evening we lost power in our area for about 5 seconds. After the power came back the stbs went through their boot cycles. All of my stbs are showing "Client Initialization Errer". Has anyone ever seen this error or experienced it? I called ts but was informed that there systems are down because of maintenance. Is this an error that can be corrected without ts? If so, what do you recommend? By the way, phones and internet are working fine.

I have seen that before. Try rebooting your RG then reboot your DVR and each of your STB's.

How do you reboot the RG? Got the same problem north od Detroit after losing power also for less than a minute.

RG = Residential Gateway (i.e 2Wires router/modem)
STB = Set Top Box (i.e. U-verse receiver)

Unplug the RG for a few seconds then plug it back in. It's possible that there may be a TV outage in the area.

We have been having issues off and on with our remotes lately. They will do everything but change channels. We just usually turn the TV off and on again, and that resolves it; however, this evening it didn't, and we try to reboot the set top box. We have 3 boxes and the one DVR. When we tried to do this, we get the "client initialization error." I reset the entire system, and nothing works. I am trying to set up a tech visit online, and I can't find the schedule a repair link, or whatever the wording is, under support-Uverse TV. The main reason we dropped TWC is to get the NFL network, and it is a little cheaper, but we NEVER had this many service problems. AT & T's support hours also suck!. TWC had 24/7 support to at least set up appointments.

Had my power go out for about 2 minutes just after I heard the first thunder boom close to me in Grosse Pointe Park tonite. After power returned, everything came back up properly, so don't think it area wide from the Livonia VHO, but may be problems through VRAD connections through certain Central Offices. ![]()

On the U-verse Facebook page, there are some other customers reporting the same issue in the Detroit area.

Actually I did that already and it didn't help. I thought that you might need to hold a button down or something. I'm on HOLD right now for tech support now for almost thirty minutes.

When this happens, try pressing the EXIT TO TV button instead of turning the U-verse box off and on. Then try the remote functions again. AT&T also have 24/7 technical support to set up service appointments.

All STBs rebooted after short power hit. One of four is back up after about two hours of trying. Others still stuck on "Client Initialization Error". It looks like the boot servers are dead or overloaded maybe caused by too many weather related reboots?

I've called and spoke to a live human person. I also unplugged the modem and all boxes still same error message. The person told me to try to reboot in 1 hr.

At first I thought I was the only person experiencing this problem. I did all of the usual remedies with no progress so I watched shows on my old DTV dvr. The next day all was well. Apparently for everyone else.

I have been having the same problem with one of my STB's. About 3 weeks ago it stopped working and kept showing client intialization error. I have 4 STB's and the other 3 are working fine. I called tech support yesterday and they sent me a new STB because they couldn't figure out what was wrong. I received the new one today. Went to set it up and still getting the client initialization error. It has been on the same tv since we got U-Verse service and we have never had problems until 3 weeks ago with this one STB.

Sounds like the problem is with that location not with the STB. Call Technical Support and let them know that you are still having an issue. If appears that you will need a visit from a technician to resolve this.
