We recently changed from COX to U-Verse. With COX we were able to get an exemption from directory assistance charges due to my wife's low vision disability. How can I get this exemption with U-Verse? I talked to someone about this but they say U-Verse does not offer an exemption but if I had a regular land-line I could get it. This does not seem right. Can anyone shed some light on this?

You can start here: http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/articles-resourc
If that does not work for you I would contact Alex and he will have someone contact you within a couple days to address your wife's special needs.

You don't mention the severity of her vision disability, but you might want to have her try the YP app AT&T offers on channel 97. You can even set it up to dial the number for her, then call the phone number you enter in the set up, such as your home number, when the call is ringing. That way she just clicks using the Uverse remote to find her number to call, clicks call, home phone rings, she picks it up and is connected to the location.
Best of luck. Hope this is at least somewhat of a fix for you.

Does that app work with the navigation buttons, or do you have to type in the name using the number buttons?

Same as if you search for the title of a show. So the navigation buttons?

You can enter the title of a show either way: by navigating around the letters using the arrow keys, or by treating the numeric keypad as if it were a cell phone and you were texting.
