This morning we weren't able to watch Timmy Time at 7:00 AM. Looks like all of that programming has been moved to Disney Jr. Looked at the channels and don't see Disney Jr listed anywhere. Have we lost these shows? If so, our morning routine is hosed for the 3 year old.

Seems like the Mouse made some major changes effective today.
There is no Disney Jr. channel until they take over Soapnet in 2012. Right now it's just a block of shows on the Disney Channel.
Bummer for parents & kiddies alike.

I see Timmy Time in the Guide on Disney (channel 302/1302) at 7:00 am and 7:15 am EST Monday - Friday. It is also shown at other time during the day.

I imagine that today was the exception as to why Timmy TIme didn't come on. Disney Jr didn't start until 8am today and I'm thinking Disney just aired random shows until the premiere time. Tomorrow Timmy Time is back on at its regularly scheduled time.

I know my son who enjoys Timmy Time wasn't upset that he missed it since Finding Nemo was on instead.

Looks like Disney Jr is just a new block of programming targeted for the young ones. New logos, new commercials and some minor tweaks in content.
Whew, crisis averted. ![]()

Yeah, and Wall-E was on last night. Looks like a Disney movie every other night during the week in the evening.

Disney Channel is spreading its wings: The network Monday set March 23 as the launch date for Disney Jr., a 24-hour preschool cable channel that will eventually replace SoapNet

Was wondering when they would make a final date determination. And at least it prepares us for the "It's AT&T's fault SoapNet's no longer on" crowd that will be posting here.

Well, since there is two sides to every conversation, I must interject that my wife is totally into Soapnet, and has already gone into mourning over the loss of the channel. Our kids are way past the junior Disney stuff, so the addition of that channel doesn't add much to "our" viewing pleasure. Now I know how all those husbands who wrote in about the demise of the Hallmark channel felt. The only difference is that the Soapnet can't be had anywhere else either, so I won't be forced to switch providers.

Do you have a link to an article where this information has been given? It has been speculated on this forum that there is a better chance of an agreement being reacged between AT&T and Crown Media since Martha Stewart has been let go by Hallmar, However, I do not remember anyone posting any concrete evidence of such talks actually going on between the two entities.

Which is exactly why the Soapnet is going away.

Never thought I'd see these days finally come -- where each network has basically 1hr of soap programming (CBS has 1.5, but anyway).
The US networks kept trying to push the envelope farther and farther, the "scandalous" story lines, the bedhopping and near nudity, the "perfect people", the SUPER-slow storylines that if you miss a week, you can still get up to speed ... and they STILL ended up killing off their shows. Even in nighttime, a show like "ER" and its near-soap status, gets too involved in personality and implausibility, and blows up.
Contrast that with the shows from the UK that continue to survive, AND make up the Top 5 shows of each week -- EastEnders and Coronation Street. Even their super-long running medical drama/soap "Casualty" (which "ER" was a ripoff of) gets high ratings in the nighttime. No "pretty people", real gritty stories, no nudity, no bedroom scenes, no rough language ... and they keep on going. Just like the Telenovelas that dominate Spanish-language TV, if you miss an episode or two, you've missed some key parts to the storylines.
Talk of a contrast.

It appears that Disney will continue the Soapnet feed for providers that have not arranged to carry Disney Junior. I believe Uverse is one of those providers. According to a Facebook rep Uverse will continue to carry Soapnet untill the end of the year.

Wikipedia isn't such a great place for sources, but it's citation list is.

Some viewers will still receive SoapNet after March 22, the company said. "SoapNet will continue to have wide distribution for some time with many distributors choosing to carry both networks until such date as SoapNet fully sunsets," Disney says.
Sounds like to me is that there may be some distribuition companies that will carry both for a short period (like Dish Network and Nickelodean GAS).

I wonder why ABC/Disney's having problems trying to sign up carriage ....... haven't heard any MAJOR cable operator picking up Comcast's Universal Sports yet, either.
Just a way for Disney to get pressure both ways ----- call to get Disney Junior (telling all the crumb crunchers on Disney), and the remaining soapers to make carriers keep providing it. More money for Disney in the long run. Who else are the remaining 2.5 hrs of soaps going to run to for rerun capabilities? NBC and CBS would be more than happy with that arrangement.

Does anybody know if U-Verse will be adding the Disney Junior Channel that launches towards the end of March? The website http://www.disneyjuniorthechannel.com currently says its not going to be offered by U-Verse. Thanks
