Can't wait; after a 4 month problem with internet connectivity and speed, which has yet to be resolved, junk set top box performance for the DVR and generally poor television picture quality, I'm moving to Comcast.
Had a ticket open that went unresolved for months before being closed unceremoniously by AT&T, 2 techs visited, maintenance crew showed up and were supposed to work on the buried phone line (they didn't), set top box never got replaced, non-functioning remote never got replaced, internet connectivity/stability issues remain, and bandwidth is clearly being throttled from 12 megabit to 4 megabit for any downloads at all that run for more than a 8 - 10 minutes (this was confirmed by measurementlab.net).
Don't know if Comcast will be any better, but it certainly won't be any worse. If it is, I'll just go back to my copper DSL which was rock solid, my Dish network tv (which was bought and paid for many times over), and my regular landline phone service. Don't save any money going with uverse, it's merely a convenience factor.
So long, AT&T. You will not be missed!

Guys got a few valid points. My friends U-Verse has gone out at 2PM for the last 6 days in a row and nothing has been done to fix it after the 2nd day of outage. Her Internet isnt any faster than her old DSL (clocked at 4 but perceived as equal to her 3.3Mbps DSL) and her video package is less than her old Dish. And she is spending more per month. I tried to get it but Im 200 feet too far out, 200! And the best DSL I can get is 1.5. C'mon ATT, extend the fiber another 16 poles and put the node in my backyard, Ill give you easment! Geez, I work for Verizon and can string my own multyimode fiber 16 poles if you give me a weekend and a contractors badge. Heck, Ill even supply the fiber...

Love forum trolls who post only to see themselves online, while adding NOTHING to any online conversation of value to ANYONE.
You've missed the point of the post entirely, it would seem, and I'm sure that this is not the first time, so I'll summarize for you so you can keep up:
I've had the service for 12 months and for 12 months it's been spotty: 2 gateways replaced, 2 uverse tech visits, 1 installation and repair visit, bad remote, bad speeds, intermittent connectivity, poor television signal quality, poor set top box performance, and the list goes on and on without end while AT&T does nothing to resolve the issues.
So while it may be goodbye, it's not the end of the story because others may actually glean beneficial information from the post that you clearly are unable to. After all, the forums aren't for fanboys: apple has that market cornered already.

Really not seeing anything in your original post that would be beneficial. Since you didn't come to the forums looking for help, just to gloat about leaving, I'd say you were the one posting just to see your self online. I'm sorry about the issues you've had with your service, but many more of us haven't had a single issue or nothing to leave UVerse over. I've had Dish and DirectTV and I've had to have boxes replaced on both of those services as well. No one provider is perfect, including UVerse, but for those of use who enjoy the service, the positives outweigh the negatives.

I had the same issue. When I dropped TV service (kept Internet and Phone) all my issues went away.

Been a subscriber for over a year now and haven't seen any of those issues. Been much happier with UVerse than any other provider (TWC, DTV, Dish).
Really not seeing anything in your original post that would be beneficial.
I disagree. When a U-verse user has problems so severe that they prompt him to cancel the service, that's information I'd like to know.
I've had no reliability problems at all since U-verse installation nearly a year ago, but not everyone is as fortunate.
In particular, if VDSL2 has intractable reliability problems in certain areas, this fact needs to be publicized. AT&T needs to be pressured to stop trying to build its network on the cheap and to install fiber, as is happening in an increasing number of countries that are leapfrogging the US in true broadband deployment.

sounds like a horror story and I am glad this didn't happen to me. I started just like that in my first week of my installation 2 months ago. Luckily 5 service visits and little over a week later everything got straightened out. I guess I was lucky they knew what they were doing, they came every other day. It would probably help if you told us what state/area this is happening. You have neighbors/friends with similar problems?
cheers

I disagree with your disagreement. If a U-verse user has problems that are severe, I would like to know about them if he is seeking a resolution to the problems and is posting on the forum to seek help. If he has already decided to cancel service, is not seeking help, and is just posting to unload, that message is of no benefit.
If I ever get to the point where U-verse is not providing me with the service that I desire, you guys will probably never know it. I would just switch providers and move on. There would be no goodbye message explaining what is causing me to leave. You guys just wonder "whatever happened to that texas guy?".

Sometimes issues can get resolved with a phone call, others with one visit, and others with several visits. YRMV. It depends on the skills and abilities of the tech. Some people don't want to endure many visits. Glad you got all of your issues resolved and are enjoying the service.

As I'm the one you are quoting, how is ranting and complaining without asking for help beneficial? Most of the folks here will try and help users who have issues when asked. Coming in saying I'm leaving because of X, Y and Z without asking for suggestions or help is not beneficial to everyone. Is UVerse perfect? No, but the very small sampling of dis-satisfied customers who come in here and rant do not represent the overall quality nor the millions of happy subscribers.

I've had quite a few issues myself...with no resolve. Three months left and I'm going back to where I came. I had such high hopes for this service and it hasn't worked out.
