I decided to go for the iPad app, but when I went to set it up, I was promptly told that AT&T U-verse has not signed up for the app whereas other providers, like Verizon, have. Needless to say, I was baffled as AT&T and Apple had this exclusive relationship for so long and I would have been certain AT&T would have been first to offer it's customers the feature we're paying for and expecting, like Verizon customers.
I was wondering if there were any others out there who would like to have ESPN 3 added to their iPhones and iPads besides me? Surely I can't be the only person who would like to be able to watch web exclusive football games while I'm on the road...

AT&T U-verse does not have an agreement in place for the ESPN Mobile app.
By the way, do you have U-verse TV service?

kryptonite, It sucks that Uverse has not set up an agreement to watch ESPN3 on the mobile devises, specifically the iPhone/ iPad. But there is a work around, if you download the Skyfire web browser from the app store you can go to the ESPN3 website and Skyfire will convert the flash video so you can watch it. The down side is that site is not as userfriendly as the Wathch ESPN3 app and there is a cost to the Skyfire app, but it works.

We've had U-verse for almost a year, switching over from another cable provider (Charter) we had for almost 18 years, and we also had multiple TiVo's in the house, and I have to say that we really do like U-verse a lot, especially since they've made some enhancements along the way. I'm on the AT&T Board of Advisors, and one of the first things I noticed about U-verse that was a problem (and seemed misleading from the commercials) was that you could only pause live TV from the main U-verse box, not any of the other sets, unless you jumped through a ton of hoops (first, you had to press the record button, to initiate the recording of the show, then you had to find the button which displayed where the recorded shows are located and press it, then you had to select the show you just started recording and press it to start playing, then you had to pause from there). I explained to AT&T that, since I was already able to pause a live show in this "round-about" way, surely their engineers could find a way that every one of the U-verse controllers would allow live shows to be paused, not just the main one (as this was a feature on TiVo and one that was quite nice). It took them less than 3 months to add to everyone's U-verse.
I'm now going to request on my next advisory session to add the access to ESPN on our mobile devices (not sure how that will fly as AT&T will have to pay an extra fee to ESPN to do so, and we know how tight these corporations are with their money nowadays). My point will be that AT&T had the exclusive to the iPhone for so many years, and they now have a large U-verse customer base, so they know there is a large number of their clients who will be interested in accessing ESPN on their mobile devices, whether it be their iPhones or iPads. In fact, it's already happening on Androids, so I'm not sure what the hold up is. We also know that ESPN already has an app that works on the iPad so the issue is on the AT&T side, not ESPN's side.

I have downloaded Skyfire, and am trying it on ESPN 3 for the first time Thursday night, live, but I have to tell you I do have reservations. First of all, in my tests last night, only one screen comes up, and as we all know, multiple games show up on ESPN 3, so if there is one particular game we want to watch and it's not the one that shows up on the Skyfire screen, I'm not sure if there's a way to toggle to another game. I don't know if I can go to a main ESPN 3 page in regular safaril and click on the game i desire, which will take my ESPN 3 Skyfire page to tthe one I want, or if there's a way I can control the screens directly from the Skyfire screen. I tried to find one from the Skyfire side, but couldn't find one yet. I'll check with their support staff, but haven't heard good things about them.

I tried it with my Android phone & tablet and the WatchESPN app does not work, I am into ESPN3 without issue on my laptop. I called ESPN support Friday, the first tech did not understand what I was asking and eventually hung up. The 2nd one understaood and in the end she said U-Verse users can watch ESPN3 on computer but the WatchESPN app is different and U-verse users can not use it. My only alternative is to switch to a different TV provider. I think this is a load of crap, on the ESPN Help/FAQ section, it does not explain there is a different between ESPN3 & WatchESPN. Also when you click Remote Access, it says to use your U-verse account to watch. Finally in the list of providers, AT&T U-verse is listed. I think it is said to log into ESPN3 to watch a game and its powered by AT&T and this is an issue for U-verse issues.
I then called into AT&T support, explained to tier 1 and he sent me to tier 2. There was nothing he could do but he said he would send it up the chain. We spent some time as I explained in detail what I did and I gave him all of my error messages. He was suppose to send me an email so I could send him some screeshots but I never got it, I will call back in next week.
I never tried ESPN3 with a flash enabled browser until now, its not that good but my tablet is a hacked ereader, not really for video but I can stream tv from my Vulkano device pretty good with it.

I agree AT&T needs to recognize they have a ton of sport fans and need to pony up for their Uverse subscribers. I have UVerse TV, UVerse Internet, two ATT Cell phones and a land line. Plus I'm an ATT Stockholder.
I've wasted too much time including downloading the WatchEspn app only to find our that Verizon was listed, but not ATT.
I suspect the product manager is not a sports fan or ever has a need to watch espn3.
Would be a good incentive to be able to advertise this capability with college football season right around the corner.
Get with the times AT&T!!!

Currenlty AT&T Uverse is not one of the providers. That will be changing soon as Disney/ABC/ESPN and UVerse just signed a long term contract that will include the WatchESPN app as part of the services offered.
