Does anyone have a problem with faxing. I had ATT DSL and the fax machine worked. I now have u-voice and it does not work. Can someone explain how to get the fax to work.
Does anyone else have this problem??

Thanks for the info. I can look into it, but I was wondering why my all in one printer, fax, copier would work with ATT DSL and not with U-Voice. I did some searching and I adjusted some settings on the fax machine but that still did not work. BTW I have a Dell AIO 962 all in one.

I have the same problem in Dallas. My fax worked with ATT DSL but not U Verse. Tech came out and said that faxes did not work with U Voice. My fiend in Cleveland just got the entire U Verse package, TV, Phone and internet. His fax machine works fine! Any ideas why it would work in Cleveland and not Dallas?

I have an HP Photosmart C6180 All-in-One. It is on the same line as my phone and works just fine for send and receive.
The phone line goes to the plug marked line on the HP and the phone plugs into the other HP plug marked phone.
It monitors the line and when the answering machine or the phone is picked up and the fax signals are detected it disconnects the phone and receives the fax.
Since I prefer the AT&T voice mail I can only receive a fax by picking up the phone when one comes in.
Sending a fax works without any problems.

Though fax over voip is a hit and miss affair, try to put a dsl splitter in reverse between your fax machine and dsl line. Some people have success sending fax when they did this.

The problem with faxing now is, you can send a fax, but cannot receive a fax if you are sharing a phone line with you fax machine. Even if you use a filter witgh the new Uverse upgrade, you either have to unplug the phone cord from your phone into your fax machine or fork over 15 bucks/ month for a second uvoice line for your fax.

That's pretty frustrating, I know. In a pinch you can alway try an internet fax service, until you get it up and running again.

I realize it's a bit late to reply to this post; BUT i'm chancing it anyway. If you have a fax machine and you are on dsl and are having UVERSE installed....MAKE SURE THE installer knows first; WHICH MINE DID, but, I guess he didn't tell AT&T, because they decided to turn on voice automatically, and shorted mine out - yep lost my fax machine - told them too, no compensation for that. However; I do enjoy the ability to record 4 shows at once, and since I don't have any HD tvs, it doesn't matter to me that they are using only 2 of the 5 wires - or did he do that wrong too? Just goes to show, it is ALL of our responsibility to pay attention and be patient. Big plus is, there is no contract.

Instead of shelling out $15/month for another Uverse line, why not use an online fax service instead and save $14/month? Onesuite has unlimited online fax receiving service for only $1/month.

I see this string was started a while back but I just change from ATT DSL and ATT phone to the new Uverse package with 2 phone lines one for fax and one voice. I had a problem with my fax not picking up also and the problem was that with the old land line ATT was able to use a single line for phone and fax (double ring for fax) so for me it was just a matter of changing the fax machine setting to single ring instead of double. I've not tried to fax out yet but I see where another post said the baud rate should be 9600 while someone else said they had no problem. We'll see what happens!
BTW AT&T Uverse beats Comcast hands down when it comes to the TV options
