would make sense if Padres games aren't going to be carried due to the league not approving the tv deal. No other real reason to carry the channel.

And based on what I've read, FSSD is just pulling down the Fox Sports Prime Ticket feed to fill in their programming gaps. Since AT&T, Dish, and TWC already carry PrimeTicket, it makes sense that they wouldn't pay the carriage fee until the MLB deal is done. No sense paying double for the same product. I know that DirecTV is only airing live events from FSSD (meaning Padres games) and the rest of the time the channel is offline. They probably are paying a reduced carriage fee for now, and if MLB doesn't approve the deal, it makes sense that they would drop the channel all together. Hopefully MLB gets its act together soon, because I really think that's the lynchpin in getting FSSD carried on all the tv providers.

Please add the new Fox Sports San Diego channel to your lineup. We have two LA Fox channels so there's no valid reason not to carry the new San Diego channel. Baseball opening day is less than a week away. I can't watch the game tonight.
Work the deal and get it done, please!

Opening day will not be on U-verse and other systems. FSSD on DirecTV is being pulled except Padres. San Diego gets fracked by MLB. LA can close a deal but we are treated like a small town market. San Diego is bigger than KCMO, Denver. No U-verse fault, it is MLB. Selig, you suck.
Do you have a link to that story?

Oh, I have seen the articles on the negotiations impasse with U-verse and Time Warner. I thought that you meant that the deal for Fox Sports San Diego to carry the Padres' games was dead, and that the games would not be carried by U-verse or any other provider.

Wow! A 400% increase (i.e. 4x what they paid for the carriage rights last season). That is quite an increase. That impasse may go on for a while.

Yes, some will leave. Mass exodus? No.
As things stand now, your only option is DirecTV or if you are within their territory,Cox Cable.

i meant mass exodus of san diego's uverse users, most of us have access to cox which i dumped because of years without prime ticket but if fssd carries that programming as i have heard they will i may switch simply to get the padres for my wife i buy mlbtv every year since my dodgers are blacked out here and uverse does not have extra innings.

Latest news is this:
Fox said discussions are ongoing with Dish Network, but there hadn't been meaningful conversations with AT&T U-verse in some time.

If that channel is owned by Tribune Broadcasting, it must be part of the current dispute between that company and DirecTV.

On Thursday, I submitted a comment/question to the Padres via their official web site asking them if they had an update about MLB approval of the TV deal. here is their canned response:
"Thank you for supporting the Padres and for your patience as we await official approval from MLB on our broadcast deal. We are not involved in the negotiations between Fox Sports San Diego and other providers but are hopeful all Padres fans will have the opportunity to watch the games this season. Below are numbers for questions regarding Time Warner or DISH.
Time Warner Cable: 866-744-1678
DirecTV: 888-777-2454 (keep saying operator to get one during business hours) DISH network: 888-284-7116
Fox Sports San Diego officially launched shortly after 1 p.m. Monday, March 19th on Channel 56 and Channel 1056 (HD) on Cox Cable (in a corresponding move, Cox moved the Speed Channel to channels 67 and 1067 (HD).
During at least the next week, FSSD will be showing replays of the one-hour season preview telecast before last Saturday night's first Padre telecast.
For the immediate future, DirecTV (Channel 694) will carry only the Padres games and not the entire FSSD programming.
Speaking of DirecTV, Padres games will not be available in the Temecula, Rancho California and
Murrieta areas, which are considered the territory of the Angels and Dodgers by Major League Baseball. Padres games will be available in Las Vegas, which is a shared territory with the Dodgers and Angels.
FSSD said it is working on a plan to produce 50 Padres games in Spanish in the San Diego market. FSSD also said it is seeking a partner in Mexico to carry all regular season games in Tijuana and Baja California.
No progress has been announced in FSSD’s negotiations with Time Warner, AT&T Uverse and DishTV about carrying Padres games. The next scheduled Padres telecast is Friday, March 23rd against Cincinnati from Peoria.
Temecula, Rancho California, and Murrieta fall within the Los Angeles DMA, and therefore are Dodgers and Angels territory - not Padres territory. Customers outside of the Padres territory can still get Padres games with an MLB Extra Innings package."

no real news in that statement. I'm still hopeful that the TV deal is approved before Opening day but we'll just have to wait and see.
