There has been a technical glitch with the HD channels audio mentioned on quite a few of the posts.
Question: IS your HDMI, is it connected directly to the TV or to the A/V Receiver? I tried both ways. Connecting the HDMI to the receiver, then HDMI from the receiver to the TV seems better. Don't know why as the HDMI is basically just a "thru-put" on the model of receiver I bought. (The $300+ more expensive one actually supported HDMI sound and divided it into channels - but that kind of $$$ buys a lot of Toslink digital optical cable on monoprice.com .. )
I have read blogs about many different signal types from digital cable, to satellite and on and on... you will get all kinds of opinions and some will back it with technical talk, wave measures, yada yada .. honestly, it may be something as simple as a bad digital cable ... I've read many blogs bashing Monster for their pricing and quality.. and many bashing the less expensive cables... you may want to replace the optical with another one .. one of the ends might be chipped or scratched.... may help some .. but until "they" get the glitch mentioned on the other forums fixed.. I can't honestly say it would improve your issue or not.. my thought when I went with the HDMI and the Optcial to the AV .. for 3 HDMI and 2 digital optical . less than $35 with S&H ... it would almost cost me that (what with the price of gas) to shop around at the various big box retailers.. . so I said "Why not" .. ordered them, got them 1 day earlier than promised.. living the happy life...

My HDMI goes directly from my TV to my STB and the digital optical goes from my STB to my home theater receiver. Like I said, works fine every other way - on SD channels and I also tried the digital audio directly from my TV to my home theater receiver and tested with a DVD - works fine. Only on the HD channels does the audio get distorted using the digital audio. My home theater receiver doesn't have HDMI or else I would've tried that, but as mentioned before it did work just fine prior to the 3988 update. Oh well, I guess I can live with it as is... I've got the STB connected via RCA to my home theater receiver and that has no distortion on any channels I just found it odd that after the update I got the audio distortion. Strange too that some don't have this problem, but some have the problem with the Zoom 2 & 3 not working and I don't have that problem. Oh well... thanks for your input on this anyway.

You could set an alert up to a week prior to the show you wanted to watch and at that time the show started no matter what channel you were on an alert would appear at the bottom of the screen to ask you if you wanted to go that channel to watch it.
I had Dish Network and they had the Tune To Channel feature which was very nice. If I was watching a movie or another TV show and I wanted to watch the baseball game that was coming on later, I could set it to tune(not record) to that channel when the program was coming on. Another feature U-Verse needs to have is multiple customizable channel lists. On Dish I set upp channel lists with different categories attached to them, such as, one list for sports, one for movies, one for music, so on, and so on. It made it so much easier scanning through the guide, because I could decide what I wanted to watch first and then go to that category and only have to scroll through a handful of channels vs. scrolling through the whole guide. Maybe a software/firmware update can add this feature.

that would be cool. The searching is bad too. I miss searching by movies, sports ext. plus no real PPV.
