How to get 4HD streams

Hello all,

I got UV installed last week and have confirmed that I have the 32/5 profile. I can still only do 3 HD streams total, even on seperate tvs. How do I turn it on?

Check your video profiles:  MENU > Options > System Options > System information > Resources

What information is shown for Streams and Egress Profile?

All of them are hooked up with coax.

Streams: 4SD/3HD (WAN); 4SD/3HD (Ingress)

Egress Profile: 20000000, 0SD/3HD

Are you sure that the information that you posted for the WAN and Ingress are correct?  The total of the SD and HD streams cannot be greater than 4.

Also, which U-verse gateway do you have?

Just double checked it. That's on the DVR box if it makes any differance.

Your WAN profile should either be 0 SD/ 4 HD or 1 SD/ 3 HD.  You posted your WAN Profile as 4 SD/3 HD.

I just set 3HD recordings, and turned the other 4 TVs to different SD channels. So yes I can have 7 streams total.

Thanks for posting those screenshots.  According to the IP/Profile tab, you are on the 25/2 line profile not the 32/5 line profile.  Your max rate definitely would support the 32/5 line profile.  You should be able to call Technical Support and get that corrected.

As for the video profiles that you posted earlier, I have never seen those before.  U-verse, as we know it, only supports 4 live streams not 7 live streams.  Do you know if you were given some new experimental profile that is being tested?

I'm located in Rochester Hills, MI, a suburb north of Detroit.

I do not know if they installed some new expirimental profile. I know the DVR box is a new Motorola design, a smaller black box, not the older silver one. 

I will call tech support then to figure this out.

Please do the following:

1. Begin recording 3 different HD streams, and begin watching 1 SD stream on your DVR.
2. Begin watching 3 other different SD streams on other STBs. You should now have 7 streams going.
3. Open UV Realtime, and wait approximately 5 minutes for all readings to stabilize.
4. Take screenshots of the Interfaces tab and the Channels/Streams tab. Post these here.

I am curious if your total inbound data rate on the Interfaces tab will exceed your profile rate (I'm guessing it will be very close).

No.  You get 4 live streams, and depending on your profile, either 4, 3 or 2 of those live streams will be in HD.  Also, as you can see above, the OP posted a screenshot which shows that he has 7 live streams ( 4 SD and 3 HD).

Gone are the days of a blanket statement such as "You get xxx streams and xxx are HD and the rest are SD."

It has become abundantly clear that no one statement applies to everyone.  ESPECIALLY since this whole 7 stream discovery!
