http://www.att.com/u-verse/availability/index.jsp?![]()
Edit: If not available where you are now, you might be out of luck as ATT is getting to 55-60% of all ATT users that is their goal for Uverse and will stop expansion around year's end.

I've contacted ATT about availability & they told me they are still expanding. Unaware of what i'm reading about they're almost done expanding. Who is right? Can i get a contact # or email address so i can confirm this? I'm sick of Directv & their yearly ;price increases.

That info was from the head of ATT, but end of year is vague. Think expansion will continue in areas that have it now, but no new areas will be added to those that already have it. Just my take on what is happening. ![]()

AT&T is basically in quite a quandry right now. They originally said the Uverse build-out would be 50-60% of homes passed in their selected areas, and that goal has been reached. However their penetration rate has not lived up to their expectations, pretty much by the technologies they're trying to stretch longer and longer distances (i.e. using laboratory data in an "ideal" situation is not the same as what happens in real life out in the field).
They've lost their I-Phone exclusive contract, which was pretty much just being milked while it was in place. They were reticent to do infrastructure upgrades to put them in a better position when it eventually would end. Now they've got to play catch-up.
So ... what to do, what to do. Uverse still has some bright spots that the cable and satellite companies have to catch up with, BUT since the major cable companies have dumped a sizable chunk of change into DOCSIS 3.0 technologies, they're coming down the path faster. Cable has now surpassed the Uverse internet by leaps and bounds, and they're intent on developing their own IPTV, and bringing it to market soon ... real soon. The only saving grace AT&T has, for right now, is their wireless business that the cablers are increasingly selling off to Verizon to run for them.
AT&T has a big choice to make: Either to pump some money into increased Uverse build-outs and improving the internet side to at least be somewhat competitive (TV-only Uverse customers will just not cut it when it comes to profitability), OR continue on their path to re-invest in wireless to make up for lost time from their I-Phone exclusive days to keep the hemorrhaging lighter. They've already given an indication of which way they're thinking with the T-Mobile debacle.
Uverse is NOT a high priority to AT&T. Remember ..... AT&T is a PHONE company, first and foremost. Broadband (Uverse/VDSL) was something that gave them a little stability until the I-Phone craze (and gold mine) fell into their laps.

They've already stated they are going after more cell bandwidth to make up for the failed merger, so it looks like Uverse is going to lose out again.
I've always stated that if you go into an ATT store, Uverse will be a sidelight w/a Uverse TV display demonstration that is mediocre at best. ![]()

Cable has surpassed the Uverse Internet maximum bandwidth numbers by leaps and bounds.
Fixed that for you. However, "maximum bandwith" is only part of the equation. If you only need 3 Mbps, does it really matter if the maximum is 24 Mbps or 50 Mbps? I, and others I know, have had such an issue keeping reliable Internet connections on Cable providers. Now, granted, maybe all of us are like some of the posters here who can not keep stable U-verse HSI, but I got a $9.95 1.5 Mbps DSL for a couple of years to backup my ever-failing Charter Internet connection.
The topology of Cable HSI, which makes it sensitive to whether or not your neighbor disconnects the cable from the back of one of his TV's, is not changing in DOCSIS 3.0.
When U-verse came along, I quickly jumped ship from Charter. I've had only two HSI outages in the last 27 months, and they were weekly occurences on Charter.
