Just had my Uverse installed yesterday. About an hour after the install tech left, I noticed the landline phones were showing no service, but then would have a dial tone, then would have no service again. Also noticed that our ADT security system kept going offline due to no connection to the phone line. I shut down the ADT system completely and the issue with the phones having no service stopped a few minutes later.
My question is does Uverse voice interfer with ADT and other phone line enabled security systems or was this just ATT doing tests on the line since the install happened earlier that day? Did anyone else experience this issue? If so, what did you do/what was the end result?

If you have U-verse voice, which is VOIP, you need to check with your alarm company to see if your security system is compatible with a VOIP phone service.

First thing is to check your wiring, With POTS dial tone comes from the drop/NID and is connected to wires in your house to reach all the phones and the alarm.
When you switch to u-verse with voice. The drop/NID should only be connected to the RG. Dial tone comes from the phone connection in the RG. If that is connected to your house wiring the dial tone is distributed to the other phones and the alarm.
So, you want to make sure the phones are not directly connected to the NID.
Check for dial tone at your alarm connection.
If these physical connections are good, then you would want to verify your alarm system is designed to work with a VOIP phone system.

If you are having times where you have a dial tone and then don't, you should call ts and report this. They probably need to send a tech to your home to check the install. Use the phone number in my sig.
