We recently tried switching over to Uverse last weekend, and of course received a warm welcome via the national outage. Anyway, the tech's that were setting us up said the internet should be fine, and only the video was effected. Naturally not 30minutes after the technician left on Sunday, the internet started kicking on and off (red light on the rg). Things were back ok sometime in the evening, and stayed that way for a few days. However on Wednesday (10/24) during the early evening.. 530est or so, the red light started coming on and off again, and I had enough, hooking the internet back up through Brighthouse Cable. ...we have/had the Elite package, and yes, I reset the router, both through the computer interface, and via the power cable.
Just wondering if anyone else- especially in the Metro-Detroit area has experienced problems similar to this. During the brief time the tv feed was actually working, I was very pleased with it, however I take online classes, and simply cannot risk a shotty internet service, let alone regular video outages.

Hi mw104.
Not in Detroit bu not far from you either. I'm in Ohio, Cleveland area specifically and while the outage affected the TV, my internet has been good to go since the day Uverse was installed, including last Sunday.
I have the express package. Have not experienced an internet outage....yet!

You weren't losing internet, your RG was losing sync to the DSLAM (all services lost), which should never happen unless there is either a problem with the RG or line conditions.
If I were you I would at least let them come out and test your line and/or replace your RG before you give up. It is not normal for it to lose sync like that.

I suspect that Internet stability should be good to excellent. If TV service has to run over IP, constant streaming 24x7, IP for browsing shouldn't be an issue.
Unfortunately for me, AT&T's tech's (Volt Telecom) have been working my neighborhood for the past few months, and are still there today (dropped my line 2x on plain DSL today).
