Yesterday and today (1/28/09) I saw a number of AT&T trucks parked near the VRAD, weather shelter (tent) and all. That confirms that they are not quite done as I had hoped. See my previous post for the reply from attdslreports-uverseprequal. Sooo... I'll just have to wait.
Thanks, Everyone

I have just about the same LOS to the VRAD. That being said the line is actually 2100ft long.
Not that it guarantees a perfect cable run, but there is nothing between me and the VRAD but a parking lot adjacent to a small cemetery. (Yes, I live next to a cemetery.) Both are on my side of the street (north). There is a church across from the parking lot on the south side of the street . There are NO homes on that side of the street. There is a thickly wooded area across the street for the remainder of the "block". Traveling east from the VRAD, mine is the first home reached. Traveling west, there is a main street about 30(?) feet away. I'm hoping my chances for a good signal are better than most.
Yeah, it can take awhile. In my case after the activity at the VRAD died down, they came around and dug up just about every underground splice on the streets closest to the VRAD to fix Bridge Taps. Apparently just about every available pair had a Bridge Tap. They did not do the whole neighborhood. I suspect that they fixed a few in anticipation of being able to get some customers up quickly.
The real notification that they were ready was the flyer I received in the mail. After I received that, it was amazing. I got it installed 2 days after placing the order. I may have been the first one in the area so that probably explains the speed. As it turned out, after digging all those holes, there was still a Bridge Tap in my pair.
They fixed that very quickly. I did find out that they had a secrete code for available pedestals. They put a piece of RED tape on each one that had no Bridge Taps.

It might not be close enough to the VRAD (w/in approx. 3000'). Have you tried the online address checker? https://uverse1.att.com/un/launchAMSS.do?target_ac
