No, it's per Video Hub Office (VHO). That's the builiding that all the VRADs connect to in a given area.

I'm North of The Houston Area actually, in a little town called Magnolia, Texas.....know where it is?

The paragraph is saying that the newest Stars use regular PC hardware.  The previous versions were purpose made computers using proprietary hardware (SGI = Silicon Graphics Inc)

I saw a computer while visiting my grandmother in the hospital today that was so small but it was a full computer.....so not ruling it out at all though.

The new Stars are supposed to be rack mounted server types of computers.  No clue what kind of room there is in a VRAD

Think about Comcast though, every area would have the closest observation pointed to your area when you had their service though or any cable company to be exact really.

They must be using loads of Stars as well too then.

been over a year  but from what i recall commiecast lot8 was houston area >> ??

do not recall any breakouts for all the burbs etc

Nope...they would be in the cable co. video head-ends.  When I was a kid, our cable head end was a few suburbs over in Cleveland Heights.  That office served probably 20 different suburbs on the east side of Cleveland.

I had Comcast up till mid-july here and it listed a location close to here for the current conditions page actually....location was "The Woodlands"

Ours would say "Cleveland Heights" for all of the suburbs, too.  Perhaps the video hub was in The Woodlands?

The LOT8's that is on channel 225 right now is "The Woodlands" as well just like Comcast was also.

i know magnolia is not a large pop for uverse  yet...

so my point is that area would make a good controlled test area maybe >??

OMG...Uverse is STEALING THE SIGNAL!!!!!   

Lets hope that the pilot works for them and they roll it out from coast to coast.

I am thinking that as well too.....but still makes you wonder how and where the Star is being placed though.

I know there are quite a few guys that work for at&t that live out in this area, and makes me wonder if that's how we got the service before even major parts of houston has it yet.

I also noted in a previous thread that i was getting a faster internet speed after an issue that i had recently with the service, they uncapped my speed and am getting a very fast download and upload speed as well.

I'm trying to take a pic of both these things at the same time also.

Depends what package you have?   OK, mine is horrible!  I'm on Pro and it's usually 2800/2900! 

Just tried CA and ME, same bad numbers.  I'm attributing it to nightly maint.

      

Back to normal this AM speed wise.  Just watched nearly 8 hrs. of TWC, nothing for the LOT8s.  So, guess you are the lucky testers, sean!
