I always hate having high ping times in games, then booted because it isn't below x ms, even though I have a really fast connection. I actually kind of miss my ping timings in the teens like I had with cable, even though the speed wasn't as fast as U-verse is. Basically, when I got U-verse, I traded low latency for faster speeds, even though I would prefer both.
I understand the interleaved channel gives higher reliability while sacrificing latency, but would there be a way to customize which channel to use per customer based on their max sync? I am not 100% sure how the Alcatel DSLAM would handle this, but it could be something to look into.

I did put a call in and got forwarded to a tier 2 tech on this issue about a month ago. He said there was nothing he could do...and he told me it was probably just the server I was trying to use, and to try a different one. I doubt it is the server, as every speedtest server gives me high latency. Heck, even to their own gateway I get high latency...

gofer6064 wrote:In responce to the question about latency decrease. I am running in the 50's most of the time, athough it does depend on the time of day or night that i check it, i currently only have AT&T pro high speed, no u-verse yet. (latency does not perticularly matter to me right now no gaming at this point.) I came acrossed a web site www.ml-ip.com, and found an article there #7 about latency and bandwith. It might be a little help to you, Also AT&T yahoo help has a web site that you can check your thru put, mine is currently wll into what they said i should get.

Fine for speed, but the latency may still be a problem, which is one thing that test doesn't test for.

I think if it was something in the cable lines, not everyone would be having this same problem. So it can't be.
spd2demun wrote:I have a dumb question...could it be something in the cable lines?Back with TWC, we had no latency problems...as in with kitchen and living room TVs on at the same time, they were perfectly synced, as you could see at hear both sets at once from either room. They replaced all the lines inside and outside my house about 6 mos. ago when the lines were cut outside during a landscape project (cable inside has been here since around 1982!), but ironically, that's when we noticed the out-of-sync!Is that possible? But looks like the person who just posted is having the same problem without coax?

The drop from the pedestal to the NID isn't really Cat5, but it is a copper pair.
