i have the 3600HGV gateway. i know i can limit wireless bandwidth for the entire network. what i want to do is specify bandwidth according to specific devices. i can't seem to find this option. is this even possible? TIA

Not positive on this, but if you set the gateway to B/G instead of just G, you should then be able to set the individual devices you want to throttle, to B only on their wireless adapters.

my wireless mode has always been set to b/g. however, there's no option to throttle individual devices. at least not that i've been able to find in the firmware, and i've explored every possible menu. the only option available to alter individual devices on the network is MAC filtering, but that completely blocks the device. i just was to throttle its bandwidth.

You wills have to do the actual throttling by configuring the devices themselves by setting their respective wireless adapters to B only. You can not do that through the gateway.
What are the devices you want to throttle?

What are the devices you want to throttle?
laptops running win7. btu i want more fine control over the bandwidth. guess it can't be done through the gateway. thanks anyway

If you go into the advanced properties for the wireless adapters, most newer laptop wirless chipsets can be limited. What wireless chipsets are the laptops using?

not sure about the chipsets, but they're fairly new laptops from dell (2011 i believe). i don't have access to the laptops right now. i'll poke around with them later. thanks.
