Does anyone have an update or has anyone heard any more about MLB Extra Innings being added this year or anytime soon? I like the addition of the MLB network but I need more baseball. Thanks

I've used PS3 and Roku. Acceptable, but not great. So so picture for the most part. I just wish U-verse would step up and make it the total package for me. But yes I agree, I'm not holding my breath.
I also get confused by the channels in the high 1600's, I believe 1690-1700. A perfect spot for Extra Innings. The channels show as ALT channels but I never, ever have seen anything on these channels.

The Alternate channels are used for overflow games. Many times, if more than one of your local teams is playing and the games would interfere with each other, your RSN may show both games, but on seperate channels.
In Ohio, the BlueJackets (NHL), the Reds (MLB), and the Cavaliers (NBA), all are shown on FSN. Ohio is slightly different, as there are two slightly different FSN Ohios, but if all three teams are playing on the same day, the overflow channels might be used.
There's many other examples that pop up during the spring and fall, when the NBA, MLB, and NHL are all in full swing.
Another good example is when the Big Ten Network has several football games at noon. One game will be on the main channel, and the others will be on the ALT channels.

I was told by AT&T they would be offering the extra innings. One customer support person even gave me a price. I never would have changed providers. It's not like it's really easy to have all the equipment removed and another provider come in and re-install. Somewhere the contract negotiations broke down; either it is MLB's fault or AT&T. Frustraing!

U verse does not offer any subscription services for pro sports. They just got MLB this season. They offer college sports subscriptions only.

Exactly.
I would do my research before buying a house, or a car, or even switching TV providers. Unfortunately, it seems not all do.

Although my response was on the NHL Network megathread, I'll repost it below as to one of the reasons AT&T does not carry MLB EI --- equity holding status (read at link to get full context):
Based on MLB's contract with the iNDemand cable providers, the MLB Network and its digital-basic placement was tied to the renewal of their little deal for Extra Innings, back in 2007. Time Warner stood up to MLB and told them to go pound sand (just like they did with the NFL, when the same tactics were used). When the deal got done, the iNDemand consortium got an equitable piece of the MLB Network ownership, the same as DirecTV's. DISH didn't agree, so they still don't have access to MLB Extra Innings, and Cablevision agreed to do EI without getting an equity holding.
With that information, it sheds a better light on the whole way AT&T is being dealt with. By what you're asserting, AT&T must have some equal seat at the league negotiating table. After all, wouldn't the league benefit by getting ANY customer's money, no matter WHO the provider is? Is this what is happening? It doesn't look like it. And you could draw the conclusion I put forth regarding the NBA League Pass' carriage this season by AT&T, with the above information in mind. Plain and simple, the NBA had to offer some sort of "hope" for consumers, and probably told iNDemand/Comcast to let AT&T get access to their subscription revenue stream as well --- for the league's true benefit.
As to Howard TV, who knows. A better value for your monthly subscription price is going with SiriusXM. You can record and listen at your leisure, plus get more than just Howard (Opie & Anthony, etc.). Besides, if a little skin is what you're looking for, it's cheaper to have Cinemax than the limited naughtiness Howard gets up to in the studio that isn't somehow funnier when you're seeing it along with hearing it.

I am curious. If you live in an area where your favorite Major League team is on the regional sports network that covers that team, would you sign up for MLB Extra Innings if U-Verse offered it?
I would not get MLB Extra Innings considering that I live in St. Louis, and can see all of the Cardinal games on Fox Sports Network, Fox Saturday Game Day of the Week, and ESPN Sunday night baseball. Any additional non-Cardinal games I could see on the MLB Network, ESPN, TBS Sunday baseball, WGN, and the Fox Saturday Game of the Week.

I'm a Rangers fan, live in Dallas and wouldn't waste my money on Extra Innings so doesn't matter to me whether they add it or not.

The problem is that all of the OOM packages are overbilled/oversold right down from the league level. Getting an OOM package doesn't mean you'll get access to ALL games, even though that is what is generally thought (and marketed) until you read the really really fine print.
The premise to getting access to out of market games is you should get all of the ones not available in your home market, PERIOD (IMHO). Not a pick-and-choose of what the "powers that be" decide to allow.
The leagues limit their own growth by these practices, but attempt to P.R.-it under the "blackout" rules, pushing the idea that it somehow protects the local franchise. So, even if your local franchise is in the dumper, you're supposed to REWARD them by watching their pathetic playing. Kinda like if your local Taco Bell was like the one filmed in NYC a few years ago with rats running amok during closing hours, and Yum Foods keeping it open and telling you everything's still fine, don't go elsewhere -- support your local business!

It's pretty straight forward. Since AT&T doesn't offer "Extra Innings", I subscribe to MLB.TV and watch the games I want on my computer. I am, by birth, a Red Sox fan, but I live in Florida, so it's my only option. I have had EI in the past, and the rules were still the same. If the Sox are playing a "local team", which is described as MLB as either The Tampa Rays or the Florida Marlins, the game is blacked out for me (on either MLB.TV or EI), and I must watch it on my RSN. But, in theory, I have access to ALL of the Sox games, as they are either on MLB.TV/EI or my local RSN carried by AT&T. If my favorite team is either the Rays or Marlins, then there is no need to subscribe to MLB.TV or EI, as all the games would be available to me on my TV via the RSN's.
So, if you live in your favorite team's home market (as defined by MLB), there is no need for Extra Innings or MLB.TV.

Not only am I a Braves fan living in Central Ohio, but I am a baseball fan in general and will watch any team or game as long as it is on. When we had DTV (for over 12 years before the switch to UV), I not only would watch my Braves but anytime there was a "day" game I would watch whoever was playing. I miss EI more then any other feature we had on DTV. I know the options out there for MLB.TV, but I would rather be able to watch on a "real" tv then on my computer. At least with the addition of MLBN we were able to see a few games last year, keeping my fingers crossed that one day we get EI.

Back in the old days when WTBS telecast the Braves games, you had no problem watching them in Central Ohio. Those were the good old days; a lot of Cubs and White Sox games on WGN and most (if not all) of the Braves games on WTBS.
In addition, you had games on USA and ESPN plus Red and/or Indians games.

There are many ways to watch on a "real tv", use a Roku, Boxee, Apple TV, xbox, PlayStation that will work.
If you haven't check there site you should http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/subscriptions/index.jsp?pro

The main reason I want EI is that my Rangers are in a competitive division and I want to be able to watch their rivals' games.

i just looked at TITANTV listing and they show on channel 1691 ATSPRHD for date 03 05 12
I been told that once TITANTV shows a listing it means that they are going to carry the MLB EXTRA INNING.
Has anyone have better info.

1691 is used if an RSN has conflicting sports broadcasts. What was written on Titan TV was AT&TSPRHD1 which represents overflow channel 1691, Each of the overflow channels is labeled the same, but end with a number 1 thru 9 to represent 1691 thru 1692.
Those channels have been present for some time now. They are not indicative that MLB Extra Innings will be coming.
I would imagine if and when we get MLB Extra Innings, the channels will be up where the NBA League Pass channels are.

Last spring, Titan actually added the MLB Extra Innings channels to their line up, sparking all kinds of discussion and false hopes until they were pulled off after a couple of days.
