You have successfully streamed video from your computer to your Uverse set-top-box? Cool, I might need to try that, I have over a Terabyte of movies in .wmv format that I usually stream with my Xbox 360, if I could use my Uverse STB it would save me a step.
did you do anything special?

I've been streaming music pictures video with my xbox 360 for years I even got the windows Media extender that is another source. the RG router capability works pretty good. once the Windows Media sharing service allows access to the TV receivers

He did not stream any video to his U-Verse boxes. They don't have that capability.
He is talking nonsense, as usual.

When someone doesn't have the service, they have no idea how it works. I guess the only thing that is left is to make things up and say them in a way that some people may believe them.

I'm not going to accuse him of anything one way or another in order to avoid problems.
But I will reply to any incorrect facts with the correct ones.

Better Know your features dude there is a Media Sharing feature and yes I do Have U-verse tv internet and Voice
Media Share is an exciting new feature of AT&T U-verse TV that lets you access your photos and music files that are stored on your PC from any U-verse connected TV in your home. Play a slideshow of your family pictures or listen to your music files through the stereo connected to the TV. You can even do both at the same time. Media Share requires specific settings be made on your PC in order for your files to be shared with U-verse.
Media Share is a feature of your AT&T U-verse service and is included at no additional cost for customers subscribing to AT&T U-verse TV.
To use Media Share, download the Media Share Installation Wizard, or configure the installation manually using the instructions in our Windows Vista. Windows XP or Windows 7 set-up guides.
Media Share requires computers to be running Windows XP, Windows 7 or Vista operating systems and streams only photos or songs that are supported by Windows Media Player 11.
The Above was taken right from U-verse tv features and how to's from U-verse Support I'm not one who doesn't ignores or just uses one feature I know all the features and use every one of them. It's called getting your Moneys worth out of the service.

You need to learn more about Media Share before you post messages about using it to stream video.
I use Media Share to stream photos and music files on my PC. Those of us who use Media Share know that streaming videos is not a supported feature.

It does video as well I help beta test Media sharing service in Windows I know how to set it it up and it does all 3 Music photo's and video. I'm not arguing this. The U-verse STB uses the same client service it even says it uses Mpeg and WMV formats

Oh and one more thing another reason My I'm so big on U-verse and the set top box I know the Motorola and other STBS is because the software uses the Origeonal WebTV tvml client code Originally developed by Steve Perlman's and he sold it to Microsoft and others to come up with MSNtv Xbox 360 Webtv Moxio. So you wamt to call me A Lair go right Ahead I know how these clients in the STBs work What there capable of. I'm just waiting for AT&T to release the Clients full potental which'll be a full video chat over U-voice over the tv using a usb webcam and those USB jacks on the Back of the STB receiver. I'm not dumb I've seen through AT&T displays and visions for communications into the Near future. U-verse TV/Internet & voice is just the Begaining of this. I can't wait to see what's next

The U-Verse Media Share feature does not stream video. It never has. You have never done it.
The Steve Perlman story you told is a verbatim copy/plagiarism from the Wikipedia article. WebTV did not use IPTV since it did not exist at the time, and the client module in the WebTV has no relation whatsoever to the TV2 client embedded in the Microsoft Mediaroom platform.
[text removed - keep it courteous] I or someone else will post the correct facts in response.

I still want to see a youtube video of the OP playing video through U-Verse's Media Share on a U-Verse STB. Won't happen (or the Realtime screenshots, either).
Bottom line - MS will not stream video in U-Verse's setup.

Opening one of Mikro's posts is like opening presents on Christmas morning: You THINK you know what you're getting but it's still a surprise.

I cannot comment on Mikro's posts, as I have not been issued the required translate table or decoder wheel.

Or something like, "If you've got to go, go with a smile."
