Compared to what I had with Dish, the U-verse music channels are nothing I care for.
Anybody know if during the Christmas hollidays will U-verse music have a dedicated channel for only Christmas music like Dish does?
Kinda nice to have that on in the background during the holiday.

The music channels are, IMHO, a good add to the service. Instead of paying for SIRIUS or XM... or having to listen to the radio, I just turn my stereo on, and my tv off, crank up the volume of my fav channel, and jam to my hearts content.
Like some ppl, it is either you like the channels or you don't. It is honestly a personal preference.
Are you sure (5145) Dream Sequence or (5136) Easy Listening is not what you are looking for? I can't exactly remember what comcast/twc have for their soundscapse channel.

Att music(Urge) channel is horrible. I, also, dont see any new age channel?
Plus what I have listened too has been aweful.
Dish has sirious..Its lightyears better. Direc has XM..very good.
Not sure why Att would not go for '' music choice'' much better selection
for varied tastes.
Oh well, If this is the worst thing about Att were doing pretty good.

I can see where you come from saying its not the best. Yes they could have chosen a better music provider, but I just do not prefer to have a sat radio provider, even though XM/Sirius is the only thing to have. They have better talkshows, but their variety sucks.
Music choice was alright, but I do not like their channel scrolling pictures... somewhat tacky, very pixelated.
Urge, I like the background info they give about the different artists, and different little facts about a track or artist. I have not yet heard a repeated song on urge, but whats to say that I don't play it 24/7 either.
I just choose to live with what I have, and not complain. I only listen to urge when im not working, playing my wii/ps3, working out, or not watching tv (which happens to be only like 4-6hrs a week at night. Either way, music is music.

Hey, thanks for the 5136 suggestion! That may replace Gold (5110) as our background music station.

Most likely they'll do it again this year...there wasn't one until a bunch of complaints came rolling in (last Christmas season).

If you want to listen to Music, get an ipod type thing, buy a Sat or HD Radio, or use a normal radio. Just a few of the things actually invented for listening to Music.
TV is for watching. I honestly can say I have NEVER listened to music channels on any of the services I have had, Direct TV, Dish, ATT, TWC or even when I was in the UK, SKY.
You you want to see Sat service at its best? Check out Sky TV in the UK. They have interactive games, a 'little red button' feature that for example when its a Champions League (soccer) night. The viewer can tune to Sky Sports and watch whichever of the 8 games they want by pressing the little red button. Its used for many other things as well such as interactive TV shows where Home Audiences can join in. Little bit off topic I know, but I wonder how far off this technology is from coming over here

Great Info about sky tv..I never knew anything about that service..Sounds great!
Back to Music service. Many of us listen to our music via our TV service. Mine is hooked up to my sound system.
So, the Sat companies just have better music then Att at this time. Maybe Att will upgrade their music but its ok for now.
I mainly use Dish -sirius for music-Its got everything I want. Just would recomend to Att to get Music choice..Its much better than Urge.
Again, just my take.

I'm with you klatu10. It's all just our take on it. I mean I loved having a sirius radio, but it got to the point where I couldnt see spending 15$ a month in radio fees when I could spend that on something more productive... *cough* WoW *cough*... But music is just that. Music. I am one for just listening to it and not criticizing the fact that the same song may have been on a day ago.
Plus, I put on Launchcast at work in the background so I do not go crazy throughout the day.
It must just be that you have to have a taste in all music to not care what they play, or how often they play it.
Just my two cents...

I would love to See Sky Tv intertwined with our programming. That would be cool.
Truth be told. I love listening to Sirious through dish. I work from home and its on as we speak.
Nothing I have found compares to First wave( new wave) or SPA 73 (new age).
Ive tried other music services and its just not as good. Not sure what I pay for it but to me its worth the extra bucks.
Its just money..We will make more tomarow right???lol
I also have XM through direc tv..Its good but Sirius is much better.
I guess whatever works for ya!

AT&T *had* Music Choice initially, and then switched to Urge.

I agree, the music channels offered on Uverse are terrible at best. Dish Network offers the best with Sirius. Have considered dropping and returning to Dish if this is not rectified. Anyone else agree?

If Music channels are that important to you, then feel free. I do miss Music Choice and would love to have Sirius/XM on U-Verse but see my sig file as to how I have used Media Share + TVersity software to stream internet radio. Much more variety.

NO. I watch TV for TV and the radio for music. It's silly to change providers so you can hear music on your TV. IMHO

Generally, I am more pleased with AT&T's UVerse TV .... all except for the music channels. You need to find someone better to do your music programming. The Easy Listening Channel should be just that .... Easy Listening! You have numerous channels but you should take the vocals OFF the Easy Listening Channel and put them into another category by themselves....call them "Vocal Favorites" and pick only good artists to be on that channel. I liked Comcast's selections for Easy Listening much better than yours. There are SO MANY GOOD CHOICES for instrumentals out there.....Ferrante & Teischer, Mantovani, Peter Nero, Roger Williams, Ronny Aldrich, the Jackie Gleason Orchestra and I could go on and on. PLEASE....DO US ALL A FAVOR AND GET SOMEONE WHO KNOWS "QUALITY" TO PICK BETTER MUSIC!! Listen to your customers....we are telling you what WE WANT in good music! Same thing goes for Christmas Music....don't put a lot of "junk" and "racket" on that channel and call it music!

I will probably be departed from this earth by the time AT&T U-Verse does away with Urge. See my sig file on how to use Media Share, along with a program called TVersity to stream internert radio. More variety than any of the digital music channel providers efforts combined.
BTW - AT&T Mgmt. may or may not read these peer-to-peer forums.
Additionally, bedwards, we hear you about your TV is for TV opinion. I also use mine for playing video games and watching DVD's.
Yet digital music channels are a key selling point for most providers (not AT&T). When Comcast sampled one channel a week from Music Choice on an open analog channel (78 or 79), new subscribers to the digital tier jumped like 30 percent. The music channels are a draw!

I got Uverse for tv and internet, the phone came later. Wjhen I had DTV I rarely listened to the music channels because I listen to music through my stereo which was also rare, and in my car. Urge doesn't bother me one bit. My wife and daughter uses mediashare to listen to music and look at pictures on our tv. They seem to be happy with that. So I won't be leaving ATT if they don't dump Urge.

Hey, sorry about that! When I had TWC, on occasion, I would put on the classic rock one if I was doing housework or whatever. I have a blu ray and a Wii. The Wii gets a lot of air time actually!! I actually forgot u-verse had them untill all the urge sucks threads.

I try to forget about Urge but there are some newbies (and trolls) that bring it up from time to time. I do miss Music Choice. The wife loved to play the Oldies channel also when doing house work or hosting card parties. I have gotten a half way decent "workaround" with TVersity but miss simply putting a number in the remote and having good music start playing. How do you use the Wii to play music? I tried the PlayOn streaming software with the Wii and it was only okay but their pricing structure was simply outrageous.

I've had Dish, Direct and now Uverse. Can't say that I've used either one of the three as a music source. Between my iPod Shuffle and the wife's iTouch we have enough music to last for a couple of weeks and not hear the same songs twice. iTunes is a great way to listen to music.

The iPod Touch would be great to use it with WiFi and listen to Pandora. I just wish that I could get Pandora on the UV STB.......... Sigh.

If you had (or have) a ROKU player you could get Pandora with it and also Netflix, MLB.TV, Amazon video etc. But I agree it would be nice to be able to get Pandora from the U-verse STB.

SM - You have really confused me now!
I thought that my mind was made up to get the Seagate Freeagent Theater+ now you mention the ROKU. I'll have to look at that one, too. I also have a WiFi radio but I'm not carrying it around to every TV. ![]()
