Why would you assume that? Every major TV provider does not carry NBA TV or NBA League Pass.

Quit shouting. Why are you so angry. There is no need for all CAPITAL LETTERS. You can make your point better if you construct a proper sentence.
ATT knows that its subcribers want the MLB Network and NBA TV. You are not saying anything that has not been said before. Perhaps you should organize a large rally in front of ATT U-Verse headquarters. Organize a bus convoy. Make signs. Get speakers to SHOUT OUT to the disgruntled.

Anybody else get the survey asking if you would purchase NBA League Pass, MLB Extra Innings, or whatever the NHL one is? I answered yes to NBA & MLB. Couldn't care less about hockey. Usually these surveys lead to something. Hopefully they're listening.

I just talked to customer service 2 weeks ago, to go through their "formal" channel/service request (as listed in the forums, it does work!) and at least to have my say officially. The tech was very friendly, and happened to be a big Mavs fan (I didn't hold it against him) so I took his information to be credible and sincere. He informed me that the week before the NBA season officially starts I would be seeing information on new offers from U-verse pertaining to the NBA. He obviously wasn't allowed to say it straight out but did a good job beating around the bush to give me the "wink wink." It does seem fishy but maybe to the very least it points out that AT&T is in negotiations with the NBA. Let's hope! (oh, and I'm in the central FL market in case anyone is curious) I figured I'd post this since many people are interested in hearing really anything that seems like news, I know I am, just getting more and more nervous as the season approaches that it was just lip service.

You dont have to be rude about what I posted. Just frustrated that the NBA Season is going to start and no word yet if NBATV is going to be added to the lineup. I figure I post since I thought this thread was dead.

He wasn't being rude, your post was. This isn't a text room, it's a forum. All caps is considered shouting and the text slang makes you sould illiterate.

I probably will be following you, not to DISH, but to another provider. I'm extremely disappointed that ATT(supposedly a major company) can't even get NBA TV or League Pass. Unbeleivable. Not to mention no MLB Net. Come on ATT, this is the channel of the country's nation pastime. On top ofthat, losing Hallmark makes this service start to resemble DISH and their numerous droppings. ATT-aim at DirectV, not DISH.

I love the NBA and my computer can't really handle LPBB, so when I heard it was close I called and got the sales department, he couldn't cofirm or deny the talks but he said he would be shocked if it wasn't available to me by the end of the month and or midseason at the latest.

Still hard to believe these so-called "talks" considering consumers have been requesting these for years now with nothing

I called and I actually was the first person to call about NBAtv, they were shocked since they usually get emails saying a new channel is being added. Anyways, he is going to go talk to his boss and get back to me when he can. We both agreed that when NBA is in talks with a television provider, NBAtv and League Pass are packaged together. He said the liklihood of LP on Uverse is "significantly higher" right now....

Well NBATV is here - if you upgrade to at least U300...now I'm in a conundrum. Still wondering what it means considering League Pass. I assume it will be to follow, but in the meantime I'm missing games because the season has started. I was going to order League Pass via broadband. Not sure if it's worth the upgrade to U300 not knowing when it will be offered - I would if I knew when to expect AT&T to offer League Pass.

I emailed the AT&T president of content, who has been quoted in the articles about U-verse adding NBA TV, asking about NBA League Pass and this was the response:
We are happy to hear that you are enjoying the terrific U-verse TV
service, including our recent addition of NBA TV.
Due to channel capacity and technical reasons, we may not be able to add
League Pass at this time, but hope to do so later, including in time for
next season.
So I guess that at least gives us hope for next season.

I see many, many open channels on the guide so i'm not sure what he's talking about. Possibly over my head to comprehend but I see lots of open space on the guide.

Just because you see "space on the guide" does not mean they have space on the network. Bandwidth issues perhaps?

As i said, this is beyond me but there are many channels that appear not to be used including some of the 1700 channels that NEVER have programming on them. Oh well, I was never expecting LP anyway.

I think the technical issues / capacity issues are more to do with the required hardware -- namely the encoders. You need about 10 of them to carry all the games simultaneously, they all have to be provisioned and hooked up, network addresses assigned, hook up all the feeds with the associated switching equipment, the channel package has to be created, etc.
It's a lot to do and a decent amount of cash outlay. Plus then you have to have a deal with the NBA to actually carry them.

Very good explanation. I was always under the impression the NBA packaged NBA tv with LP but that is obviously not the case unless there is an agreement that AT&T will make it happen in the future. Time will tell.

Although I'm not a basketball fan all that I can say is baby steps. They have channels solely related to NHL, NFL, Tennis, Golf and now the NBA. I feel that they are trying. I'd say that MLB would be a good bet for next season.
