When I am scrolling through the channels in the guide, the mini picutre showing whats currently on works, but when I select the channel all I get is a black screen. all other channels work correctly.
I have had this issue with other channels before, but when I select a different channel and then come back it loads. This time it's been 20 mins or so and I have tried selecting it several times and nothing has made it load.

for one channel thats the only fix? what would cause it to suddenly decide not to load just one channel?

in the past this happens very rarely for me, and thats the only fix. since the olympics have started, its happened at least 3 times that I know of and the only fix is to reboot. a factory reset might keep it from happening again, but it might not. but then you lose your DVR recordings. my guess is the overload from the olympics might be causing it? since recordings still work for some reason then I just stick to that, I'll watch the recording instead of the live feed, even if its live, and then wait until nothing is recording to reboot it. It's annoying and there hasnt been another fix or permanent one that I know of.

I have most of the olympics set to record. I didn't have last night recording. but if its recording, I can start the recording and be assured to see the olympics?

in the past, that's been my experience, the recording will still record and load even when the channel isnt. nbc wasnt working when I left this morning and it was supposed to record around noon so when I get home I'll check it, but it's always recorded in the past. usually the channel comes back on its own eventually, but I never have the patience to wait for it, especially if its in the morning and I have something recording later that day that I dont want to miss.

Known issue. This is what I call the Black Screen of Live TV. A reboot will fix. It will also clear up in a coupleof hours The channel shows in Preview mode and will record. I only notice it on the DVR box.
You can switch to the SD or HD channel, ie if the SD is black, the HD Live channel should be fine.
I first posted about this in September 2010. Almost 2 years ago!
Speedy fix, huh AT&T? Lol.

FWIW: The issue also happens on my non-DVD STB's. In MY experience, I usually lose the HD version of the channel, but the SD version will work. Since I have 2 HD TV's and normally watch HD feeds on those sets, I've never experience the SD version of a channel going black, and then finding the HD version watchable. My daughter's TV's are both SD, and they only watch SD channels, and they have never reported a channel being" blacked out".
