Those last four are all local channels.

Do those "new" local channels also appear in the local channel area (i.e. the double digits)? Do you think they're just making "copies" up in the Foreign Language area of the channels for the convenience of the Spanish-speaking?

Creo que más personas hablan español en Texas, que estos días Inglés. Todo lo que compro tiene dos idiomas en él ....

For those of you who travel, or have lived abroad--do other countries make such an effort to offer channels in English?

I lived in Italy for 3 years and if I wanted to watch TV, it was in Italian. No English speaking channels.

I figured we go overboard in the US.
At least they're easy to hide by number sorting.
Thanks for the heads up on the channels. ![]()

Well I see them now, but I'm wondering when HD versions will be added. Univision, Telefutura, Telemundo, and Galavision are all in HD, yet the Spanish section does not offer these in HD.

In Dallas, the HD versions are shown as local stations:
1010 - KUVN HD (Channel 23) - Unvision
1020 - KSTR HD (Channel 49) - TeleFutura
1039 - KXTX HD (Channel 39) - Telemundo

Yeah, I got those locals in HD in the LA area, too. Galavision is still notably mssing despite featuring original HD programming.

Here is an excerpt from the article on Multichannel News found in the link below that relates to what is being shown on channel 88.
If you've ever had a good idea for a new household product -- or even just spotted the flaws in an existing one -- Quirky can help you see that sometimes those visions come true. Like winning the lottery, only better, because more than pure luck is required.
Perhaps you've experienced the frustration of trying to plug several devices into a power strip, only to find that oversized plugs block some of the outlets. A college student named Jake Zien took the idea of a pivoting power stick -- one that can be bent to accommodate oversized plugs -- to the product development firm Quirky.com.
The conversion of his concept into a retail product in a matter of weeks forms half of the drama in the first episode of Quirky, a six-episode series on Sundance Channel.

My experience has been that just like here in the US, if the economics make sense, then yes there will be different language channels, the goal of private broadcasting companies universally being to make money. If the economics do not make sense, then no there won't be. Further, when staying in hotels, there are always English language channels if the hotel carries satellite TV.

What if you are not staying in a hotel but you are English speaking and living abroad in a non-English speaking country? Are English language channel options offered as part of your TV service?

My assumption is that if a particular country has a large enough population of English speaking residents (Americans, Canadians, Brits, etc) to make it economically worthwhile to offer channels in English those channels will be offered. Many European nations are now getting significant numbers of non-native speakers and multilingual channels are probably being offered (especially by satelite). CNN and ESPN can be found in lots of countries, again by satellite.
In the US we have many groups of first/second generation immigrants who like entertainment in their native language and just want news and programming from the "old country". Entrepreneurs provide these services if the $$ make sense. That is a very "American" concept.
