I work for AT&T corporate offices (manager in finance) and I recently moved from a non-UVerse service area into Dallas so now I have Uverse for the first time...my family & I love the programming, features, etc. but we really do miss the program reminders that we had with Comcast because my husband might be watching an old episode of Star Trek (during yet another marathon for all the Trekkies out there) but if we had a reminder to set, it would stop him in his tracks so we could put on the brand new episode of Alphas, Big Bang Theory, or some other program that the whole family wants to watch...
When I am sitting in front of the TV, I don't always have enough time to scour all the channels to find the show that I wanted to watch OR to know that the new episode of WipeOut is on TOMORROW, not TODAY and reminders are a great way of making sure you get to watch what you want to watch without unneccessarily filling up the DVR.

Its a feature a lot of people would love to have but will probably never get. AT&T isnt too intent on listening to us about little things like that, others here will tell you to just record it as that is doing the same thing, but I disagree.
