urine poor - hahaha. funny guy.
The only difference between Comcast's Weather Channel and U-Verse's is the five or so minutes each hour that Local on the Eights (LOT8) that Comcast has and U-Verse doesn't. Do you know something about the other 55 minutes each hour, that is different?
I use U-Verse's Media Share and TVersity to stream audio from the local NOAA office to my U-Verse STB. I get forecasts every 3-4 minutes.

I think that would be 12 minutes of LOT8 and 48 minutes of other identical content. Every hour has 6 eights, and the period dedicated to LOT8 is 2 minutes, I believe. 6 x 2 = 12.
But, that doesn't make your point less valid: If what you are watching TWC for is LOT8's, there are much better ways to get it that don't involve waiting an average of 5 minutes for it to start a cycle.
I'm very happy with http://www.nws.noaa.gov myself.

Not a huge deal but-It is a nice touch that Comcast goes that extra mile for their subs while U-verse doesn't

Yeah, Comcast has always been known for being so customer oriented. ![]()

Oh yeah, at a cost. Comcast has already raised their rates twice this year.

Thought that they were between 60-90 seconds, so at least 6 minutes per hour but still the poster's original claim that Comcast's version of TWC being so vastly superior was pure bunk.
The whole point for me about LOT8 is to be able to quickly use the STB and remote and get LOT8 or LOT8 style functionality. Ch. 227 just does not cut it.

Yeah, thats why I left Comcast over 10 years ago. They were so customer oriented they kept rasing their prices at least once a month.

Not having Local on the 8s is a sufficient reason to switch back to Brighthouse. Not having the Hallmark Channel is a close second. Listen to your customers and spend the money!

They are spending money, but it is not clear that they have spent money on those to issues. As for LOT8s many have moved on to get other weather apps, channels, or sources. Because that will not be carried on Uverse. As for Hallmark channel? None of us know.

Unfortunately had you researched U-Verse before switching, you would have known that U-Verse does not have Local on the 8's.
Just remember that if "AT&T spends money" that means that the U-Verse subscribers will be spending (more) money, too.

RCSMG is right. Why wait for up to 9 minutes, when you can get the weather report now through the internet?

Not everyone has internet access in the same location as their televisions

I agree - I would love to be able to receive LOT8 style info on my STB (and 227 'ain't the one').

My cell phone has weatherbug that I could update every minute if I wanted to. I'm sorry, unless it's a major storm, the weather doesn't change that often.

We are experiencing a relatively strong snow fall. LOT8s would not have made any more difference about notification than any other weather app. I have a map that if you put your cursor over any city you would get an up to date weather forecast. It was sent to me my another Uverse sub. Here it is.

You could also look outside and see that it was snowing, unless it was invisible snow. ![]()

Just to weigh in on the subject you know freedom of speech and all! What AT&T "offers" for weather service "weather app channel 227" Accuweather is really a joke. Takes for every to load and the quick glance of the forecast is never the same as the "Video" version. It really is inferior to the weather channel AAMOF, neither of the 2 are in sync with the Accuweather plugin for firefox. My laptop will come out of hibernation and load firefox faster than ATT's 227 will load. Just by looking at the increased number of ATT wireless routers around me from when I first got service ATT is not doing too bad. That's a good thing because I own ATT stock!! I just hope they don't get to the point that Comcast has--take it or leave it. Remember what Lilly Tomlin has said "We don't care. We don't have to. We're the Phone Company." Just more now. I'm sure a few former Comcast customers can relate. Hey, I'm just 1oldman LOL!

The ATT weather app leaves much to be desired. Its a good thing there are many other weather apps/service available that are muchmore accurate and faster. And you don't have to wait every 8 minutes for a weather update.

Do I miss it? Yes
Would I like to have it again? Yes
Have I adjusted without it? Yes
These days I just use TWC App on my Touch when I need the weather in a hurry.

I never watched LOT8s so I don't miss it. I usually watched the local news cast because TWC was focusing on New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles weather. Besides we got weather every 10 minutes.

At&t's contract with TWC expires on March 31, 2011. So if they are going to add LOT8, which I doubt, it would come up during contract time.

Other providers are upgrading it to HD now, it's not on its way out. Uverse just doesn't have it because of the way their system is set up.

Att hasn't added it up to now. And has developed their own weather apps. It doesn't look good for LOT8s for Uverse.

Well maybe so, maybe not. I (and others) have been screaming for better music channels and it looks promising for this spring. So, ya never know. AND maybe AT&T (instead of TWC) will use the negotiation period to get TWC to pay for the hardware required to run LOT8's. The wife was in the hospital in November and the Hospital's interactive system ran LOT8's just fine.

Anything is possible. Just because something doesn't look at the present does not mean it won't be eventually rolled out. Who knows, maybe they will rollout a Weather Bug app for Uverse.

If you have ever been through a tornado or lived in a tornado prone area you might understand a little more what I am talking about.
Everyone has different preferences and different likes in the world. If they didn't we would all live in the same style house and have the same style cars. I am sure I am not alone in saying that I do like the features of the local on the 8's and as an AT&T consumer I am just trying and anyone else would that didn't have a channel that they wanted and carry the features.
