The reason YES and STO are not affected are for different reasons.
YES is considered a national network now.. not an RSN .. however, they have more blackouts than just about everyone (including the "talking heads"shows) Don't ask me why.
STO is actually 2 channels.. STO-Cincinnati and STO-Cleveland. There currently is no full time HD channel for those.
With that "All you can eat" package, I'm not affected. Those who don't have HD, pay the HD Premium Tier AND are huge collegiate sports fans will be the ones who suffer.

I wonder what happens with those RSN's in the letter identified as "No HD Replacement".

I think you're wrong here.
STO is the Cleveland Indians channel, among showing other sports programming. There is only one of these channels.
Fox Sports Ohio has two channels, the "main" one stemming out of Cleveland and a "sub-feed" coming out of Cincinnati. At one point, I saw it re

Does FSN Arizona have full-time HD channel?
Also, I believe the distribution agreement with CSN Bay Area allows it to only be shown in the local area. There are a number of other RSN's that U-verse provides in some local areas that are not included the Sports Package.

Arizona subscribers will not be losing FSN Arizona. No subscribers will be losing their local RSN's. All subscribers will continue to receive their local RSN's in their base package.
This change only affects those who have the Sports Package. The out of market RSN's in the Sports Package are being converted from SD to HD and moved to the HD Premium Tier Package.

Will the move to HD mean that the RSN channels will have the same channel number that they had in SD, but with a "1" in front of it?
If they are given completely different channel numbers in HD, I wonder if this is a precurser to U-Verse getting the MLB, NHL, and /or an NBA package. What I am thinking is that the packages would use the former RSN channels in SD and the comparable HD channels if the move means that the RSN's are moving to HD channels with completely different channel numbers than their former SD spots.

The letter that I received from AT&T shows a "1" in front of the current SD channel number. See the letter that SomeJoe posted in an earlier message in the thread.

Oh, well. It was wishful thinking on my part. I wonder where U-Verse would put a package when they finally have them?
Another question, I wonder if the packages will be in both SD and HD? I would have no intereset if they were only SD.

I received my letter from U-Verse yesterday regarding the change of the RSN's to Premium HD. I understand from the letter that I will be losing FSN Ohio- Cincinnati, FSN Ohio-Cleveland, and FSN Arizona.
What I cannot figure out is what is going to happen to Sports New York (SSNY) Channel 704. That one is not included on the list in the letter. We do not get the high definition version of that channel presently like we get YES, Sports Time Ohio, and the three Fox Midwest channels in St. Louis, Indianapolis, and Kansas City.
I assume that SSNY will not be available in St. Louis even though it was not listed in the letter.

So am I understanding this correctly that if someone is subscribed to the sports package and HD premium tier they will lose FSN Arizona, FSN Ohio - Cincinatti, and FSN Ohio - Cleveland on December 15th if they do not live in any of those markets?

From what I have heard on this forum, and from what it says in the letter, the answer is "yes". Can someone else confirm that? I do not want to give wrong information.
In addition, in my post previous to Zeonis's post, what happens to Sports New York, SNNY Channel 704? It is not listed in the letter. Do we lose that channel, also?

Wow, that's going to pretty much wipe out the sports package! Out of market RSNs appear to make up a big part of it.

Maybe their intention is to eliminate the sports package and move the remaining channels to the HD Premium Tier eventually.

It's simple:
Your regional channel(s) will remain completely the same, on the same tiers they are on now. If you do NOT subscribe to the sports pack, those regional channels that you receive are not changing in any way whatsoever.
Got it? Part two:
The regional channels that are NOT in your area are currently part of the "Sports Pack" and are most likely, only in standard definition. They will move EXACTLY 1,000 spots up, and will be in HD. You MUST pay for the $10 HD Technology Fee AND the $5 HD Premium Fee in order to receive these "out of market" sports channels.
For example:
I live in Ohio. I get FSN Ohio on channel 732 and 734. I also get SportsTime Ohio on channel 735. For $10 more, I can receive these channels in high definition on channels 1732, 1734, and 1735.
These channels are not being affected.
Every other FSN, and a few Comcast Sports Net channels that AT&T carries are part of the "sports package" which I can pay $10 a month for. With the exception of YES, I only get these channels in standard definition. After the transition date, I can pay $10 a month for HD, plus $5 for the HD Premium Fee and get these same channels in HD.
It is my understanding that these "out of market" channels are moving FROM the Sports Pack TO the HD Premium Fee and WILL NOT be available in standard definition in ANY package AT ALL.
The other channels in the "Sports Pack" such as Fox Deportes, Tennis Channel, NHL Network, CSTV, among others will NOT be affected.
If you are worried about the $10 HD Technology Fee, the AT&T U-Verse sales (billing) office loves to give promotions on this package, and many others. Call them up and see what they can do. When those offers expire, call back up and get more offers. Honestly, I haven't paid for the $10 HD Technology Fee in quite some time, thanks to these offers.

So far I have not received an answer to my question. What will be the status of SSNY Channel 704? It was not listed in the letter that I received from AT&T.

Because it was not in the letter that you received, and not in the letter that was previously posted, I would assume that it would remain unaffected.

If SSNY is not affected by the change, I wonder if it will eventually become HD nationwide?

Has this question been answered?? We are in Houston and the only reason we have the sports package is so my husband can watch U of AZ games. My Auburn games have gotten national coverage for the most part this year, and due to SEC agreements with ESPN if they're not, I'm stuck watching them on ESPN3.
(FTR, we are a couple of lame-os who still don't have HDTV, although we are probably going to be taking the plunge
soon solely because we're tired of everything being cut off of the screen. )

If someone is subscribed to the sports pack AND HD premium tier, they will be fine. Your "out of market" sports channels will move exactly 1,000 spots up AND be in high definition on the HD Premium Tier. The sports pack will cease to carry those channels. Imagine moving from one city to another. You cease your presence in one area for your presence in another.
You in Houston will have to pay $10 for the HD Technology Fee (this fee can be waived by AT&T's billing/sales office on a fairly regular basis) and $5 for the HD Premium Fee.
The channels will be in high definition. If you have a 4x3 SD TV, you'll see black bars on the top and bottom of the screen. Sometimes, you may see additional black bars on the sides of the screen. These are normal for a 4x3 TV. If you had a 16x9 HDTV, you'll see everything just fine.

megabeth, unfortunately while most of the above information may be correct there is "No HD replacement" for FSN Arizona - channel 762 (SD) as can be seen in the letter sent out in Houston in the below link.
And to quote kryptonite from the below post/link:
"It is my understanding that these "out of market" channels are moving FROM the Sports Pack TO the HD Premium Fee and WILL NOT be available in standard definition in ANY package AT ALL."
Believe I'd be calling CS, ask for Tier 2 or a supervisor, and see if channel 762 is going to be available/moved.
Good luck and let us know what they say.

Thanks. I've got the letter right in front of me, which is why I went out in search of this forum. I talked to a Tier 2 person this morning, but her "resources" do not have anything that will answer my question. I suppose I'll have to wait a few days and try again because she really didn't know anything about this change.

I haven't seen anybody in this thread say they are absolutely certain channel 762 will be completely discontinued for "Out-Of-Market" users. That's why I suggested it doesn't hurt to ask.
It seems kind of odd FSN Arizona is the only channel in the whole sports package where there is "No HD replacement". That's what it's showing on my letter also. Since there's a month to go before the RSN channels are moved to the HD Prem Tier believe there's enough time for anything to happen.
If nothing else megabeth can voice her displeasure to CS channel 762 will be made unavailable. Would bet other U. AZ fans may be doing the same.

I know squat about who knows what when you call U-verse. I just wanted someone to answer my question about whether FSN Arizona is going to be available anywhere, and the people I talked to did not know anything about the change. FSN Ohio - Cinci and FSN Ohio Cleveland are also listed as "No HD replacement." The letter says to call if you have questions...apparently just not this specific one. ![]()

Just hope that they end up adding SNY to the HD tier. We have a good friend who is an on-air personality for the station and like to watch him. Even though we are by no means Mets fans, my wife is a huge Jets fan and enjoys the programming for her team.
BTW, we live in Columbus, Ohio.

The two FS Ohio channels are HD only during live events, for people who live in that market place.
Is FS Arizona the same way, HD only during live events?
I wonder if that's what it means by "no HD replacement." If you live outside of those areas, you'll get those channels on a package TBA?
