I subscribe to the U450 Package only so I get those RSN's which they will eventually remove from that package[might as well remove the sports tier while they're at it].

I subscribe to the Premium Tier to get Redzone but will cancel in January (and resubscribe in September).
This move is a lose for this customer. I watch out of market RSN's infrequently but considered their availability as a plus when I evaluated UV over TWC. You can't continue to remove channels (for whatever reason) and expect that there won't be customer pushback. It really is a question of "acceptable loses" for AT&T. Currently, if Time Warner ever got THDVR and the NFL Network/Redzone, I would re-evaluate and honestly, TWC might win.

I also watch the RSN's quite often and hope they'll reconsider this move.

Does TWC offer the out of market RSN's in HD? If they don't offer them at all, I don't see what you would gain by switching from U-verse to TWC because you don't want to pay the $5/month to get the RSN's in HD.

I have the U450 and the HDPT so it's a moot point for except I'll be getting those channels in HD. Would the local RSN stay for those who do not subscribe to the HDPT? For example FSSW/FSD/FSHo for those in Texas where we get Rangers/Stars/Mav and Astros?

The filing specifically mentions "out of market" RSN's. Thus, it appears that there would be no change to the local RSN's that you receive in your basic package.

Thanks TG. Like I said, it really doesn't effect me. But I'd feel for those who wouldn't get their local RSN.

No, but they offer other stuff I find attractive. When considering a switch, you have to evaluate the complete package. Two years ago, this eval wasn't even close - TWC offered little content that Uverse did not offer and Uverse had a ton of stuff that TWC lacked. Now, the situation is different. TWC offers sports packages, MLB, Subchannels, miscellaneous other channels, a vastly superior ondemand library, the "Start over" feature, the fact that I don't need a box in every room and so forth.
Uverse still comes out on top with NFL and THDVR (for me) but it's much closer than it was two years ago. THDVR is a "killer app" that would outweigh other considerations, but all I'm suggesting is that for me, it's pretty even these days..

Thanks to the OP for starting the thread.
Not too much to be excited about since all the the major league games are blacked out. I will enjoy watching Comcast Sportsnet CA for my Bay Area sports news in HD though (I am in San Diego). Will still hold out hope that we will get the sports packages someday...

If you like the college sports (basketball, football and baseball), this is pretty exciting news. Especially with the college basketball season now kicking off. There are a ton of non-blacked out college games that you can only see on the out of market RSN's.

If you subscribe to the HDPT from Sept. to Jan, then you wouldn't be missing anything either. Only difference is now you would get the out of market RSNs in HD as opposed to SD. Other than MLB what other "miscellaneous" channels does TWC have that UVerse doesn't.
If you have anything other than "basic" cable you will still need a box in every room to be able to access any channel.

Other than MLB what other "miscellaneous" channels does TWC have that UVerse doesn't.
WAUB
Hallmark et. al.
AmericanLife
Digital Subchannels (Retro, My Network TV, WOSU Plus etc..)
There may be others, these are the ones I might watch from time to time. Personally, I think the OnDemand offerings from TWC are a bigger competitive advantage than these few channels but the point I was trying to make is that TWC is far more competitive than two years ago and UVERSE can't compete on price by continuing to get rid of channels.
I got the letter today and fortunately, "YES" and "SNY" are not on the list.

Other than the 2 Hallmark channels, what other channels has U-verse gotten rid of? As I recall, last year TWC dropped HDNet in a dispute with Mark Cuban, and that channel has not returned to the TWC lineup.

Isn't WUAB just the Cleveland news, due to a lot of blackouts? It seems like all they used to show was paid programming.
AT&T shows most Cavs games on FSN, if that's what you'd be interested in. WUAB may have showed Indians games, but most (if not all) of those are on STO. Both of those channels are available in most U-Verse packages.

They've moved channels to the premium tier which, if you don't have the premium tier, is the same as getting rid of them. Palladia comes to mind but there may be others.
Krypto, you can't make a good case that a channel I say is valuable to me is not valuable to me. I'm the worlds greatest expert on channels that our valuable to me. Anyway, yes, I used to watch local news periodically on WAUB.
I'm amazed at the pushback to the mere suggestion that the distance between UV and TWC is not as large as it was two years ago. It seems like a really obvious point to me. UV still wins, but it is closer than it was.

Do you like Palladia?

I received the following letter today regarding the move of out-of-market RSNs to the HDPT. Note that I'm in Houston, so this letter does not discuss my local regional RSNs, which are Fox Sports Southwest (1754), FSN Dallas (1753), FSN Houston (1755), and FSN San Antonio (1756).

Thanks for posting that, SomeJoe.
I wonder what happens to the 3 RSN's that have no HD replacement?

Here is St. Louis we get Fox Sports Midwest Missouri for St. Louis (748 and 1748) which is our regional sports network, Fox Sports Midwest Indianapolis (749 and 1749), and Fox Sports Midwest Kansas City (750 and 1750). Fox Sports Midwest Missouri carries the Cardinals and the Blues so I assume we will still have the SD version of that channel.
For the other two channels we get blacked out for the the Pacers for Indianapolis and the Royals for Kansas City. The Blues are on both of those channels in addition to our local RSN. I wonder if we will still get the SD version of those two channels since we already get the HD version.
In addition, will we lose the SD version of Yes and Ohio Sports Channel which we also get in HD version? My thinking is that the only SD channel we will have in St. Louis is the SD version of Fox Sports Midwest Missouri which is our local regional sports network.

YES and Sportstime Ohio will not be affected.
Also, any other RSN's for which you are currently receiving the HD version should not be affected and you should continue to receive those channels.

Thank you for the info, Texasguy37. Mmmmmm, "Texas" is part of your name. AT&T headquarters are in Texas. Obviously, you are a top executive for AT&T who trolls this forum spouting the AT&T line and propoganda.
I am glad I am in St. Louis. Then I know I will not be accused of being an AT&T employee and troll. Wait a minute, I am not safe from being accused. I went to Bandana's barbeque for lunch yesterday, and I had Texas toast . Obviously, since I enjoyed the Texas toast, I must be an AT&T employee and troll.
Oh, the humanity.

Did you and Texasguy receive your huge bonues from AT&T yet for posing as U-Verse customers over the weekend? My bonus came yesterday, and I was able to purchase a 52 inch Sony, a blu-ray player, and made a substantial downpayment on a new Lexus.

I received the same letter yesterday, the only difference being my regional RSNs, are CSN Bay Area and CSN California. I will think about throwing the extra $5.00 in the pot for the Premium Tier, it might just be worth money now.
