This is a serious case of PLB. Pre Lost [Word Filter Violation]
It has been very rampant in these parts lately.
Very contagious also.
Exercise caution!

If ATT Uverse drops these channels, I'm canceling my subscription. I'm weary of receiving notices that are designed to motivate the customers to whine to the cable networks. This is a contract negotiation tactic. The cable companies need to redesign the service so that we pay for only the channels we want and be done with the bull----.

Please do everything you can to keep HGTV, DIY, Food network and GAC. If these channels leave the lineup, we will have to leave AT&T Uverse. These are the most watched channels in our household..

If you really are "weary of receiving notices" then you'd better not subscribe to another provider. They ALL play the same "negotiate and let the public know" game. In fact, they may be required by law to play that game, depending on where you live.
And if you pay for only the channels you want, they'd still play that same game. Not to mention, this way, they can charge 10 million (suppose) people for HGTV. If they had ala carte, they'd charge fewer people, but the channel would still cost the same to produce. Fewer people, same costs, higher prices.
Look at Setanta, for example. They were an a la carte channel and charged $15 to each subscriber who wanted it. Then, they folded.
AT&T charges $20 for the movie pack, and $14 each for HBO or Cinemax.
Even some of those kids channels are $7 per channel.
With the current model, you pay very little per channel, but receive a ton of channels. Wtih an a la carte model, you'd pay more per channel, but receive far fewer channels. This way, if you only watch one show on that channel, you don't have to pay $7 or $8 a month just for that one show. You can probably pay $1.22 for that channel.
Your "argument" holds less water than one-ply toilet paper.

Our family loves the Food Network, HGTV and the Cooking channels.
If your company loses these channels; we will have to cancel your service and receive internet, phone and cable from another company. These are the channels that we watch 80-90% of the time.

I think ATT is confused about who/what there customer base is loyal to. The Hallmark channel was bad enough. Make no mistake ATT if this programming gets dropped too, our family will be shopping for another cable provider!

Personally I still like my Uverse TV and internet. (Except for the inferior HD PQ) But I am really getting tired of AT&T airing their laundry to the paying customers. And the condescending post cards they send out really add to my feeling. This is something I don't ever remember having to deal with when I had DirecTv. Frankly with AT&T it's getting really old.
I don't watch the channels that we might lose. And I didn't watch Hallmark. I understand how important they are to some people. But I wish AT&T would quit playing the sympathy card with their customers. I pay them enough money each month for service and am tired of them airing their laundry to us. Just my opinion and we all have one.

ANOTHER UNHAPPY CUSTOMER. ON NOVEMBER 1ST IF HGTV, DIY, ETC ARE GONE SO AM I. ALSO MOST OF MY FRIENDS HAVE ATT UVERSE AND PLAN ON DROPPING. YOU OFFERED ALL YOUR "GREAT" DEALS TO GET NEW CUSTOMERS AND NOW LITTLE BY LITTLE YOU WILL BE TAKING AWAY THE OPTIONS THAT WERE OFFERED. I AM NOT SURE IF YOU ARE UNWILLING TO PAY WHATEVER THE CHARGES OR JUST DO NOT WANT TO TAKE A FINANCIAL HIT. BETTER TO MAKE A LITTLE LESS PROFIT THAN TO KEEP LOSING YOUR CUSTOMERS - REMEMBER THERE ARE LOTS OF OPTIONS FOR US TO CHANGE TO!!!!

The notifications are not "airing their laundry to paying customers." The notifications are to comply with FCC regulations. See the discussions earlier in this thread for an explanation and a copy of the FCC regulation. In the future, AT&T will continue to provide notification to customers when similar situations occur in compliance with federal law.

Like many, I just received notice of more "negotiations" that could lead to the dropping of more channels. It's bad enough that Hallmark and other channels have recently been dropped. Dropping the Food Network, HGTV, the Cooking Channel, the Outdoor Channel, FamilyNet, etc., would substantially alter the product we subscribed to. If that were to happen, it would be unacceptable and we would move our business to another carrier. I believe that several carriers have already successfully negotiated with the media company involved (Scripps?) and have renewed these programs. We trust that ATT --an equally big media company with plenty of influence-- will be able to do the same.

I am recently a new customer for u-verse TV, less than 2 months. One of our most watched channels is HGTV 1450. I noticed that HGTV will not be provided by AT&T. After the Hallmark channels were discontinued I feel that AT&T is not concerned with keeping new customer and will make a change to another provider in the very near future.

Please go back an re-read your postcard very carefully. This is not a notice that the channels mentioned in the postcard will be removed.

I am really getting sick and tired of receiving these postcards telling us that we may lose more channels. With this latest postcard AT&T is telling us that by Dec. 1st we might lose up to 14 channels including the Hallmark channels we already lost. That's alot of programming. My question is this. Will AT&T lower our rates if we lose all 14 channels??? I doubt it. If we do lose these channels and our bills are not lowered, I am going back to Direct TV! I've had enough of this crap!

Maybe ATT U-Verse should add a reading channel that gives lessons on how to read a postcard. It has been repeated over and over again by TexasGuy37 and others that ATT is simply complying with the Federal Communications Commission regulations (a Federal law) that cable and satellite providers must inform their subscribers that a contract between the provider and a channel (or channels) provider is ending, and the date on which the contract is ending.
Please read your postcards thoroughly.

I really like Uverse, but if the Food Network and HGTV go, so do we. Use the money you are saving on Hallmark to keep these.

Since we already lost the hallmark channel, if they don't get this figured out and i lose these channels, i'm afraid i will be canceling my at&t u-verse. I have 200 channels and these are the ones I watch! So i guess i will be going with a carrier that has these channels.

If AT&T doesn't reach an agreement that allows us to keep DIY, HGTV, Food Network, then I will cancel & use a different service. Those are 3 of my top watched channels & are a large part of the reason I subscribed to AT&T.
Also, I think it's childish that they send these post cards out that instruct us in "harassing" these channels directly. As a customer, it isn't my responsibility to work out a fair agreement--it's AT&T's. I'm an AT&T customer who signed up based on the fact that I'd get the channels offered and it's their job to maintain that agreement. I think it's wrong to manipulate customers by trying to egg us on saying that these channels are "not being fair" etc. AT&T needs to take care of business--ON ITS OWN--and maintain AT LEAST the channels/service standards we signed up under. Leave your customers out of it. It's not our responsibility to negotiate AT&Ts dealings & I don't enjoy little post cards in my mailbox like these.
Just like I'd say to 2 spoiled, arguing children--WORK IT OUT.

Please read my post several posts up from yours. There is a Federal Law that makes those postcards manditory. Here is my earlier post:
"Maybe ATT U-Verse should add a reading channel that gives lessons on how to read a postcard. Maybe this means the channels aren't being discontinued in our areas? j/k!
I did get the 1st Hallmark notification, but not a 2nd one like you did.
So, it's possible several may not even know of these announcements, unless they call ATT, or come here? Hmm....

No, what I meant was that I did not get any notification for Hallmark or the current go around. I did get notification for whatever it was before Hallmark. It was AMC.
