Comcast, Time Warner, Suddenlink, DirecTv and Dish Network have MILLIONS more customer than U-Verse has. U-Verse is a phone company pretending to be a cable company!!
Again, U-Verse customers, if it has been 30 days and no Hallmark, just imagine what it will be when U-Verse's contract with Disney (for ABC and ESPN) or another popular network comes up for renewal.
I have been with U-Verse since last December and I have had NUMEROUS problems and I have decided to say - at least for a while.
Hey U-Verse - enough is enough! Level with us and stop blaming Crown! Please don't insult my intelligence and say you are working for me to get a fair deal. Whatever the cost ends up being, you are going to pass that cost on to us.
One question for the U-Verse employee who monitor this- why have you not given me a credit on my bill for the loss of Hallmark?
You're wrong. Uverse is not a PHONE company pretending to be a CABLE company. You're just too Simple Simon. Would you say Comcast is a cable company pretending to be a phone company since phone service is available with Comcast and ALL cable companies by the way.Don't forget, everything that is Uverse is AT&T, BUTeverything that is AT&T is not Uverse. For example you cannot go to any AT&T store and pay your Uverse bill. If you are leaving Uverse or you think something is wrong with your equipment, i.e, an STB, remote, RG you cannot take it back to an AT&T store and say "I'm done with Uverse!' The people who hook up Uverse are NOT the same people who hook up AT&T POTS lines.
Then you beg us not to "insult your intelligence". I could use another "I" word about you but I WON'T and remain civil because you ask the"the Uverse monitor" (that should be moderator BTW) why you have not received a credit on your bill for the loss of the Hallmark Channel. First, Wendy or any other Utalk moderator has the authority to make any changes on anyone's uverse bill. Second, this a peer to peer forum, not a forum for people to complain to the "Uverse Ombudsman". Third, no Utalk moderator would solve your woe(s) here on this forum. Fourth, what makes you THINK that you deserve a CREDIT because you LOSE one channel????????????? I am sorry if I seem to be hard on you, but you did say not to "insult your intelligence".you don't pay by the channel (a la carte)
Enjoy your weekend.!
That should have been DOESN'T have the authority.

I have been a satisfied U-verse customer since 2008. However, if the DIY, Foodnetwork and HGTV channels are not renegotiated, I WILL go to another cable provider to be able to have access to these channels. I really hope that you will able to provide these channels.

Many customers will stop u-verse if you can't provide the popular channels like food network, hgtv and hallmark. Daily mailings are received from competitors and the $ is getting lower so we are considering switching. Also, why can't we get Fox business with u-200 service? Again my Comcast neighbors are receiving all these stations and it's very hard to promote your product when all you're doing is taking away!!
Att is not fighting hard enough because it doesn't seem to be a problem for other providers.

AT&T is dropping more channels...and blaming others rather than their own excessive greed. We get the "story" that they are fighting for us....well, enough is enough. If their current dispute is not resolved by keeping the HGTV channels we are moving on to another provider....t.v, internet, and telephone. Wake up uverse....you are not the only choice!

Let's face it, we're at their mercy whichever cable/satellite we choose, and prices will go up with all of them. So I hope Uverse gets their act together and saves these channels and brings back Hallmark. I don't know if these comments ever get back to them, but here's mine: If you have to raise our rates a couple of dollars, fine, I think most of us would rather that, than the hassle of switching companies and facing the same issues down the road when their contracts come up for renewal. That being said, if these channels go away, so will I !!!!!!

First we lost Hallmark and now we are losing HGTV and DIY. This is rediculous. You are already charging more than you originally qulted me and I am losing all of my favorite channels.Try getting rid f the Soaps. Those I do not watch. See the hassel you have then. This appears to be a breach of contract to me. I asked when we signed up if these channels were there and would stay. I was assured that they would. I want to see some results. Either keep these channels or lower my fees.

My favorite channels are HGTV DIY and Food Network. If I don't get these, I'm not sure Uverse is going to do the job for me. Sure seems like we're paying enough to keep our lineup -- didnt we just have a rate increase?

Where did you see that HGTV and DIY were being removed from the U-verse lineup? Please go back an re-read your postcard.

AT&T has ADDED quite a few channels this year. Mostly, if not all, HD. Sorry I don't have an exact count. When channels are added you don't see the out pouring of posts here. There has not been a rate increase either for these channels. Yet![]()
Actually I think AT&T is fighting HARDER than some providers. At least they are not just rolling over to the content providers and simply taking the channels in question and adding them to a premium tier for premium $$$$.

Losing the Hallmark channels was bad enough, but I was willing to wait a while before switching service to see if they would return. If I lose HGTV and Food Network, there will be no waiting. I will switch my phone, internet and cable service immediately. I am calling Time Warner already to see how long it takes to have them do my installation so I will be ready if I need to switch. I seriously question the people who are making ATT's programming decisions; it seems as if they must want a mass customer exodus.

I have to admit that I don't think at&t is fighting hard enough for us. Now you are saying we could loose 6 more channels. If this is the case I might as well go back to comcast or direct tv. We keep losing channels but the bill keeps going up. I know alot of my neighbors watch these channels ( and they belong to att}, they may cancel you.
You didn't give a credit for losing channels nor did you give us another channel in it's place.
We don't need the music channels or the blood and guts. We need more family channels. Channels with intelligence, something that teaches positive things.
At&t is doing what comcast did. These channels (and the Hallmark channel } are very important to me. The holiays are coming and you ruined the programming for us. You ruined family time. What will you do to us next?

Other than the Hallmark Channel and the Hallmark Movie Channel, what are all these other channels that we have lost? The only other one that I can think of since I have had service is the Soundtrack Channel. Many channels have been added to the U-verse service since I subscribed in May 2009.
Also, the last rate increase occurred on February 1, 2010. Prior to that, the previous rate increase was on February 1, 2009.

I was already considering my exit do to the loss of the Hallmark Channel but the potential loss of HGTV Food Network Cooking DIY is just to much. ATT uverse makes enough money to keep us receiving these channels. But if you the notices they send out they say they are trying to save us money. I like how the phrase it. In the real word they are saying we are not going to swallow any increae in price. If we do you will have to pay for it. While the are cheaper then some TV suppliers they are not the cheapest. I am not willing to pay more if they can't man up and swallow the increase then they are not the company for me. I am already checking out my options.

If we do not have the Food Network, we will starve! AT&T, we hope that you successfully negotiate keeping Food Network, and Home & Garden TV. These channels are some of the main reasons that we have ordered cable in the first place. If we do not get these channels on 11/1, we will have to switch. Thank you for working diligently to keep these channels.

So, just like every Thanksgiving weekend there's a free U450 preview does that mean every February 1, there will be a rate hike? Maybe to help pay for the free preview? Who knows, I'm just saying.

and I thought Dish Network was bad at this.
I find it strange having postcards sent because AT&T all of a sudden this past year needs to reach a "fair agreement" for these random companies:
Rainbow Media (AMC, IFC)
Crown Media (Hallmark, Hallmark Movies)
Scripps: (DIY, Cooking Channel, Food Network, GAC, HGTV)
Outdoor Channel Holdings
CornStar Media (FamilyNet)
Bloomberg TV
Eternal World Television
Yes, every provider deals with contracts expiring, but seriously either ALL of these companies hate AT&T and want to increase their prices only for AT&T, or AT&T is really struggling with money for U-Verse. Maybe they're just trying to scare us by announcing contracts that are about to expire. What's next, Viacom channels, ESPN channels, HDNET, TNT, FX?

I switched from Comcast last May due to poor hd reception for network channels. I have been very happy with U-Verse. However, my family watches HGTV, Food Network, Cooking and DIY on a daily basis. If U-Verse drops these channels I will go back to Comcast since I don't want to pay for a service that will be missing my main channels. It's sad but true. I signed up for a service that listed a select number of channels and I expect those channels to be available to me while I use the service.

It's not totally unexpected to see these postcards coming all at once. UV started in 2007, so these contracts are going to start expiring all at once. I can only imagine that there will be more. Comcast bought up lots of smaller players and may have different dates and won't all expire within the same year.
Will drastic measures be taken like with Crown Media? Who knows. We will see how things play out with bigger players other than the most recent mid major Rainbow Holdings (TCM, We) and the minor league Crown Media (Hallmark channels).
I wish AT&T would provide a channel list with extra columns, such as expire date, in negotiations (Y or N) and contact info.

I agree with you. I also have been a very satisfied customer of Uverse since 2008 and have recommended them to several of my friends who have also switched. But with the loss of Hallmark and Hallmark Movie channel and the possiblity of lossing Food Network and the Cooking Channel by the end of the month. If these go so will I. They add several hispanic channels and take away the good channels that everyone watches. I think Uverse will loose alot of customers if they don't stop loosing channels.

Most of these channels are a major part of my TV watching. Both notices I received from ATT Uverse about eliminating channels mention a "fair agreement" with these channels to continue carrying them. "Fair agreement" is in the eyes of the beholder. If DIY, Cooking channel, Food Network, HGTV, and EWTN are discontinued, I will be looking at alternate providers who have "fair agreements" with these channels.
