I am quite disappointed in both ATT Uverse and the companies involved in the Agreement dispute. I sense greed in both parties because ultimately the advertisers pay to keep the programming on air. And we all see the advertisers. I signed up with ATT Uverserve in order to watch certain programs. Slowly these programs are moving away beginning with The Hallmark Channel last month. I most certainly will cancel my signed Agreement with ATT Uverse. I signed up because of a few programs I am interested in. And the majority of those very programs are the ones now in question as to whether they remain with ATT Uverse. If the remainder of my programming is let go I have no reason to stay with ATT Uverse. It's not too late for any of the parties to make decisions to keep the programming running as is and eat a little crow if necessary. We all have to do that from time to time.

Both notices I received from ATT Uverse about eliminating channels mention a "fair agreement" with these channels to continue carrying them. "Fair agreement" is in the eyes of the beholder. If DIY, Cooking channel, Food Network, HGTV, and EWTN are discontinued, I will be looking at alternate providers who have "fair agreements" with these channels.
Fair - until their contract with Food, Hallmark, et al come up for renegotiation. Yes the grass is always greener, until you step in some poo.

With the loss of Hallmark I lowered the level of my service. That was the only reason I was paying for any of the movie channels.
With the announcement I saw today, Bloomberg is the ONLY reason I still have the level I am on now. Remove that channel, and you WILL lose me as a tv customer! No ifs ands or buts about it.
Instead of the "tier" system, why not let people go "ala-cart", seems that it would be much simpler and better for everyone. Then if a network wants to charge too high of a price, the viewers can choose whether it is worth paying for that channel.

I agree - i would love to see a system where you choose the channels you want. I have 200 channels and never watch more than 10, with HGTV & Food Network being the most watched

First we lost Hallmark and Hallmark Movie channel. Now there is a possibility of losing HGTV, Food Network and DIY - if they go I am definitely leaving. I like the customer service plus the features but worse comes to worse I'll hook up the VCR and tape programs. Why do we get 19 free spanish channels and they keep taking away english speaking channels......

AT&T must to it's best to avoid losing HGTV, Cooking, and the Food Network programming. The loss of these channels would definitely mean looking into other providers.

Saw a commercial where DISH is losing FSD, FX, and one other channel. It is clear that ATT is not the only provider who is losing channels.

As has been mentioned many times, the 19 Spanish channels were added to the Paquete Espanol package which is available for $15/month. Also, other than the Hallmark Channels, what are the other channels that have been removed from the U-verse lineup?

Dear AT&T U-verse team,
My family was very disappointed to learn that our most favorite channels: DIY network, Cooking Channel, Food Network and Home & Garden Television may not be carried by U-verse TV service by 10/31/2010. We have already lost Hallmark channel, another of our favorite channels, earlier in September. If we were losing the other 4 favorite channels mentioned above by end of October, we are very likely cancelled the U-verse altogether. There are nothing worth of watching for us on U-verse line up anymore!
We have been a royal client to AT&T for many years with home phone, cell, internet and cable TV services. Unfortunately, having the potential of not being able to watch our most favorite TV channels going forward, it will very likely force us to shop somewhere else. It is really a shame.
Sincerely,
Renee

I will leave too. I signed up for a certain few channels and now some of them havea possiblity of not being provided. Sounds like a breach of contract. They are not holding up to what was signed for on the dotted line. I will not pay for services/channels that are not provided.

What would those channels be that are no longer there? Also, what new channels have been added to the lineup that were not present when you signed up for U-verse?

We received the notification of the potential loss of HGTV and other other channels today. I am disappointed that the Hallmark Channel has already been lost (at least for now), and the loss of HGTV would lead me to investigate the option of returning to the local cable company.
When I switched a couple of years ago to UVerse, I was told that AT&T would be adding a channel from the local cable company that broadcasts the Padres baseball games. To date that has still not happened....guess it too falls into the "fair pricing" category.
Hopefully AT&T and the channel providers solve this dispute soon. From the posts on this page, it looks like I may not be only customer that will seek alternative services. And I will if if HGTV is no longer available.

DIY and Food Network channels are such a large part of my viewing that if Uverse were to drop them, I would have to consider alternatives.
ARE YOU LISTENING AT&T?

First Hallmark Channels and NOW we are most likely going to loose DIY Network, Cooking Channel, Food Network, Home & Garden Television and others! Will our prices decrease AT&T or will you continue to charge us the same price for less channels? I will cancel if one more channel becomes unavailable!

How do you know that we are most likely going to lose them? Are you actually at the negotiations? Please enlighten us? Just because you get the FCC mandated written notification (postcard) that the groups are in the final thirty day window for the contract to be renewed, does not mean that it is a shoe-in that the channels will be gone.
Did your price increase when UV added NASA-TV or other new channels? Mine didn't.
Good luck with your new provider - they will never have a channel go off because of a contract dispute. Yeah, right. ![]()
BTW it is lose not loose, just saying.

I asked them three times now over on the facebook page if my bill will go down if these channels are removed. They will not answer it. I have not yet received this post card, but if and when I do, I do plan on giving them a call on it.

I am for, always have been, the a la carte method. I would enjoy having to pay only for what I watch. That makes sense to me.

diana_ - When you find a provider, any provider, that offers ala carte channel packages, would you please let us know? Unfortunately it is pure daydreaming to think that is going to happen anytime soon. While the delivery providers (UV, Comcast, Direct TV and so on) may or not want to offer ala carte, the content providers (CNN, ESPN and so on) do not want you to have it.
Lets say that all I want is Speed TV, ESPN Classic and CNN Headline news,. ESPN will say that I can not get only ESPN Classic. I must take ESPN U, ESPN News and ESPN 2. Fox will say that if I want Speed, I will have to get FX and the same for CNN Headline (CNN International and so on).

I think that these One and Dones have the ability to read the future since they are assuming that U-Verse will definitely be losing all of the channels in this current go around.
I would like to get into professional gambling on sporting events, and have one of the One and Dones help me pick the winners since they absolutely know what the future will bring.
I love how the One and Dones shout at ATT using CAPITAL LETTERS. They get so mad and upset. If they are all assuming that U-Verse will be losing all of those channels, then why stay? Just find another provider.
Dish Network would be perfect as long as you are not a fan of your local sports team that is on your local Fox Sports Channel, or enjoy watching National Geographic, or FX.

I was outraged, like many of you, to see that ATT might cut loose this very valuable program group, headed by the incredibly wonderful Food TV Network. They would be taking this action because "we can't get a fair deal for you."
Cut me a break. And stop pretending that you are in charge. Consumers are in charge. We pay you.
I have a message for ATT Uverse. I been inundated by direct mail and in-store pleas and deals at Best Buy, Sam's Club and other retail outlets to join DirecTV. I left DirecTV 2 years ago to join ATT Uverse. But after watching channels slowly erode, with Hallmark TV, etc---and now losing Food TV, DIY, Home and Garden, etc etc, Family Net and Bloomberg...wouldn't it be ironic if ATT gives me the reason to go back to DirecTV?
And ATT "apologizes for any inconvenience line-up changes may cause."
To the negotiators who are "fighting for us".....this is not an inconvenience. It is a reason to leave you and start paying someone else who can keep channels important to us.
Thanks for the apology. But if you don't get the clear message about losing all these channels, I won't apologize when I call ATT and tell you to come back and get your equipment. I will welcome DirecTV back into my home.

Please go back an re-read your postcard. The postcard does not say that those channels are being removed from the lineup. Negotiations are ongoing with Scripps Howard to renew the carriage agreement.
Also, you mentioned that you have seen channels "slowly eroding, with Hallmark, etc.". What are these other channels that are no longer in the lineup? I have seen many more channels added to the lineup than have ever been removed.

TexasGuy37: As you noted, "might cut loose" is in the first line of my post. My dissatisfaction is directed as much at the tone of the postcard as it is at the prospect of losing the channels. For ATT to call it an 'inconvenience" is laughable. By the way, I've read your responses to other posts. Seems that, as "UMaster", you are very supportive of ATT and everything about UVerse.

I don't understand the problem regarding EWTN
This is a Catholic channel that is self supporting. As far as I know only those of us in TV land send contributions to their site, not ATT

I do watch those channels and I don't understand why all of a sudden so many channels have to be negotiated. Let's dump cable and go back to an antenna where we had less choice but better family viewing

U-verse has been in existence for about 4 years. Some of the original carriage agreements are expiring and need to be re-negotiated.

My bill has not increased with added channels but then, I don't recall any being added. Most of the lineup isn't worth it and how about all that PAID PROGRAMMING during the night. Some people are up at night wanting to watch TV because they can't sleep and all they get is PAID PROGRAMMING....
