Here is the official press release:
AT&T and Scripps Networks Reach Fair Programming Agreement
Dallas, Texas, November 07, 2010
AT&T* is pleased to have reached an agreement with Scripps Networks. HGTV, Food Network, DIY Network, Cooking Channel and GAC are now back on AT&T U-verse® TV.
We're very satisfied that this is a fair deal that benefits our U-verse customers. The terms and costs of the deal recognize our growing subscriber base and give us the tools and content rights to compete with all other providers. We are very grateful to our customers for their support.

You should go ahead and switch. It sounds like you will be happier elsewhere.

I''m really angry and frustrated at the sudden loss of channels I watch daily, and pay dearly for!!
I cannot get any person by phone, or email at AT&T. I look forward to Iron Chef, and Next Iron Chef all week, and now I cannot see them??
I will be dumping U-Verse as soon as they will answer the friggin' phones! I expect a refund, or I simply will not pay them for November, since they did not deliver as promised.
If only I could get my mitts around the neck of who is responsible for this fiasco!!

Oh, they delivered alright. A crock of {word filter evasion}. And in that crock is what AT$T thinks of their subs.

it's a bunch of bs - not too pleased with att - last month, they had a "system failure" and lost all of the messages on our voice mailbox... and c'mon, a multi - billion dollar biz like att can't afford to pay scripps, when they're collecting at least $100 a month from all of us... thinking of switching.

If AT&T can't get this mess straightened out and get my favorite channels back, I will go elsewhere for cable service. We also have phone and internet service with AT&T and they can kiss that goodbye as well. Since AT&T has cut channels before and never passed along a reduction in rates to reflect that, then I am convinced this decision they made is based solely on greed. If they had been able to negotiate a reduction in rates with Scripps, would they have passed on those savings to the customer??? No way! This is about money for AT&T, plain and simple.

Hello??? If you are watching the Food Network, don't you KNOW the Food Network is back on the air? Why do they feel the need for the scrolling text announcing the obvious? Hello?!? McFly!?! Anybody home? I'm going back to Brighthouse anyway. U-verse has gotten way too expensive.

I just want my opinion too. I also will be switching to Warner Cable if this isn't resolved SOON. I pay way too much money not to get the channels I watch most often.

Since Uverse/ATT has roots in Texas, I'm not surprised that the defenders have screen names with "texas" and "dallas" in them.
Be aware that those of us not so close to the company were really disrupted by this. I won't apologize for my anger.
Although I'm not switching yet, I will stop recommending U-verse to friends. This incident burned my confidence card. Sorry for that dose of reality.

I would suggest that you enroll in few anger management classes. It might improve your disposition, and eliminate the name calling that you do on the forum.

DID EVERYONE GET A DISCOUNT FOR THE MISSING CHANNELS THIS WEEKEND???...if not you need to call and fight for it!!!!....I know the channels are back on, but its just the principle! If AT&T care soo much about FAIR deals then they need to be FAIR!!!
I don't know why we as customers have to call to get the discount AT&T provided to some customers...it should be automatic!

Well the channels are backi! I don't care! I don't like the way Uverse treats their customers. Cable TV is more or less a commodity. I have other choices. I will save $80 a month, with a 36 month price guarantee, and NO CONTRACT! There are customers that are stuck in contracts and have no choice. If you don't have a contract check into your options. You might save some money and you can help send Uverse a message.

I agree Uverse needs to be sent a message. I think they were actively screwing with their customers. They had lots of choices of what programming to put up to replace HGTV and they chose LA Ink. That's not similar programming that would appeal to HGTV viewers. It's rubbing salt in the wound! It was specifically designed to put pressure on Scripps (HGTV's parent) by annoying their customers! Very mean spirited!

Unfortunately, even though it's saying they've come to this blah, blah agreement, I just checked and the cooking channels still aren't on in Texas.
I also have a 'package' deal with AT&T and I'm also going to switch. It's Sunday night and that's when I always watch my cooking shows...I'm HATING THIS!!!!

I am happy to be watching "The Next Food Network IronChef" but I've still got my installation for WOW Cable scheduled for next Sunday. Saturday when I called to cancel my AT&T the rep offered me a $50 discount on this months service to stay on and see what happened with resolution to this problem. Today when I "chatted" online with another AT&T rep, she couldn't tell me that the $50 was set to be subtracted from my bill, but only that there was a not that there was going to be a discount. She offered me either $10 or $20 discount (I can't remember because that is not what I was interested in) for the next 6 months. I told her I didn't care about the money because if the channels didn't come back, I didn't want the service at any price. Now I'm in a quandry. Do I stay or do I leave? I don't trust AT&T anymore, but wondering if they will think twice before they pull a stunt like this again. Do any of you have any opinions on this?

LA Ink - that's pretty mild compared to the other shows that were on some of the channels. Try what appeared to be a marathon of [Word Filter Violation] last night on one of the channels. If you preferred something milder instead of one of the Iron Chefs programs - they had "Kathy Griffin: Whores on Crutches".
[text removed] It's acceptable thought to replace good family programming with this with no notice to parents.

The programming on the channel is correct. I see the cooking shows. The description in the Guide are not correct and will not be correct until the overnight update.

You will need to do what you feel is in your best interest. U-verse is not the first TV provider that has removed channels from it's lineup during a carriage rights renewal dispute, and I am sure they will not be the last. There is no guarrantee that these types of situations will not have to another TV provider that you switch your service to.

We have the channels back although the ''guide" and "info"are not updated.
I'll be checking out our options since we don't know how long they will keep these channels on. I don't watch many other channels, certainly not enough to warrent to cost of Uverse without HGTV & Food.
AT$T really screwed up on this. Scripps looks like the good guys and AT$T looks greedy.

I am not an employee of AT&T or a troll. I do not live anywhere near Texas. Now that my disclaimers are over, I wish to post this comment.
All of you angry, hysterical, threatening people are patting yourselves on the back as you think it was your posting that caused AT&T to come to an agreement with Scripps.
I know this will be an unpopular opinion with you, but I feel this agreement would have happened despite your angry, hysterical and threatening posts. I am confident that AT&T knew that pulling these channels would cause the uproar it did.
Negotiations can take time to come to a finish. Fortunately, the channels were off for just three days. I, personally, was not going to rush into changing my provider. I wanted to give both sides some time. That is how business negotiations work.
Out of curiousity, I did call Charter to find out what they offered in the St. Louis area. I have never had them as a provider, and would never consider them as providers. For similar internet and a similar level of television (I am U450 with the premium channels added on), without having a contract with Charter, it would have cost me about $21 dollars a month more than U-Verse , but I would have only 55 high definition channels.
I see that some of you are still going through with your plans to change providers. However, I am sure Direct, Dish, Charter, Comcast, Time Warner, Brighthouse, Cox, etc. are very upset that AT&T made an agreement with Scripps.
All of those phone calls tomorrow morning that they expected will never come. Or maybe they will from the tone of most of the posts the last three days.

The channels will be in the U-verse lineup for at least the duration of the new carriage agreement which should be for several years. How long will these channels be in the lineup of the new TV provider that you are considering?
