So if you get two U-Voice "lines," do both lines come with voice mail, etc.?
I work from home and need a second line for work, but I need voice mail. Also, is it possible to disable call waiting on a permanent per-line basis? In other words, I don't ever want call waiting to go off on my work line; if I'm on the phone, I want it to go straight to voice mail.
TIA.

I figured out how to get 2 separate greetings and 2 separate voicemail boxes working. First, you use the Set-up Wizard for the voicemail to create a "Directed" voicemail box. You need to set up a sub account as well to assign the second line to. Once you have the web stuff completed and go to the voicemail to set it up, you essentially record a greeting for each line as you like and TURN OFF the "Company Greeting" feature. I sorted this all out and it works like I want it with a greeting for my home phone with its voicemail box and then my home office greeting with its own box.
Perfect. THANK YOU!

Were you able to get the 2-line voicemail boxes set up OK?

I just had uverse 200 phone, TV, and internet installed in our new house. When I made the order, I asked for two phone lines, one for the phone, the other for my bro-in-law's fax. My bro-in-law told the tech when he was here that he did not want the line for his fax after all, since he does not use it that much. So, will I still be charged for the second line, even though it is inactive, no phone number. Secondly, if I am being charged for an inactive line, and I ASK to have it taken away, will that any effect on my getting my 30 day rebate.,?
TIA

I suggest you call Uverse and ask about it. You should definitely let them know you aren't using the second line so that they don't charge you. And they can answer all of your questions as well. 800.983-2811

This was an excellent tip. Thank you.
I also work from home and have two separate telephone numbers with Uverse and need to have voice mail systems for each phone line that are separate (i.e. one voice mail system for home and the other for my business calls).
So far, I've spent maybe 6 hours on the phone with Uverse tech support and they are still unable to figure out how to keep voice mail messages that are left for one of my phone numbers from appearing in the voice mail system for both telephone numbers..
Currently, if someone calls the telephone number for my Home phone and leaves a message, the same message shows up on the voice mail system for my Home phone AND my Office phone number. The same thing happens if I get a voice mail message for my Office line - the same message also is on my Home telephone voice mail.
I've asked AT&T repeatedly if Uverse has the technology to provide separate and distinct voice mail systems for each of my two Uverse telephone numbers (instead of both telephone numbers sharing the same voice mail system) and they say "yes" but have not been able to figure out how to do this.
Any advice or help here is much appreciated. Thanks.

Thank you for this helpful post. Question, did you ever have a problem with the setup wizard giving a system error? Really frustrated with this service!!

This appears to still be an issue. Uverse technical support couldn't figure it out and said the department that handles that was closed (866-905-8922). What a joke. 2 lines, 2 separate voice mail accounts, that is about as simple as it gets.

Did you try the suggestion on the first page of this thread? (Third post, I think...)
It worked just fine for me.

Sure this issue was answered. But I'm not convinced it's doable having also wasted considerable time. There are multiple problems where if one doesn't get you the other will. All I, (and pretty much the rest of the world with multiple phone numbers) want to do is have two distinctly different greetings and mailboxes. I couldn't care less if it's in the "same" mailbox as long as whomever I decide can check the messages has the proper password; and callers to one or the other phone number get the proper greeting for that line...no pushing buttons for Numbnuts1, Numbnuts 2, etc.
I can't figure this out. U-Verse supportless couldn't figure it out. One guy in all of Google-land has a cryptic paragraph that is less than complete, and still the problem exists. I leave room that I am dense and just can't figure this out, but I'm about to drop all of this and switch to Vonage or someone who can make this work.
Sorry for the rant, but how does a "telephone company" screw this up so badly...this should be a Comcast approach, not ATT. Help?!?!

Again, did you follow the process from earlier in the thread? Here it is again, and this absolutely worked for me:
"I figured out how to get 2 separate greetings and 2 separate voicemail boxes working. First, you use the Set-up Wizard for the voicemail to create a "Directed" voicemail box.
