I have read several threads about setting out a Router behind the Uverse RG and they were very helpful in getting things set up.
All of my Ethernet cables go to the garage but the Uverse RG is in the Study. In order to provide Internet to the rooms up stairs (Wired not Wireless) would it be better to use the Wireless Router I have or would it make more sense to set up a Switch/Hub instead since I do not need another Wireless network (the RG provides the wireless access for me).
If using a Switch/Hub how would I set that up?

If your current (wireless) router has enough Ethernet ports open, just use that. Turn of its WAP since you're using the UV RGs WAP.
If you need more Ethernet ports, use a switch.
After plugged into the UV RG, it should show up here:

(passcode on sticker on bottom edge of RG, if you haven't accessed before)

A couple questions first:
Are you using your router to isolate your local computer network traffic from the Uverse IPTV traffic, or just to provide more wired ports?
Do the "rooms up stairs" also get Uverse set-top-boxes (for TV) or just internet access?

You can use it to extend the ethernet ports available but it's not a good idea to use it as a router. Let the RG take care of the IP address allocation and use the other device as a switch / hub to extend your ports. Either that or go wireless with the PC / laptops on the network.

Why?

Why?
Main reason is that it's not really supported. It's possible but if you have connection issues the techs won't really be able to help much your own routers connection settings. Just trying to keep it open for support so you don't get yourself mixed up.
The reason that they both can't have the wireless enabled is that they'll both try and assign IP addresses to the devices connected to the network when they can really only have one. It would be like a house with two addresses.

Oh, and that would be something new?
Sorry, I was being satirical. I'm willing to bet more than half the people on this forum have router behind router setups.

Understandably frustrating I know but you wouldn't expect a boatbuilder to fix your car would you? Same thing with another 3rd party router connected to the RG. The RG wireless is supported but not the settings of the other router.

To be sure the 2Wire is possibly the weakest of any of the Gateways I have seen so far from any of the providers. I as probably many do, run many devices behind my DSL connection and I have routers and security to handle them. I need and I think people like me, want the 2wire to bridge my traffic to the internet which will let me control allocation of my IP addresses the way I want. Let's be honest here ATT limits the capability of the 2 wire for support reasons. I long for the days of my Netopia router. I wonder how they handle this with small business.

Then again, if you had a small business, you'd probably have some kind of IT person to deal with the configuration.
