I was just watching NBC's Today Show, and the TV randomly went to the big Maroon Lock. I checked all channels and it was the same. I can unlock them, but i think i would have3 to do that individually for every channel. its doing a soft reboot right now

Sometimes if something occurs and the STB can't determine the ratings of a show, it will lock it out to be safe (goes with the better safe than sorry method). There was probably an error in getting the ratings but a reboot should take care of it.

Good Luck. If your setup is like mine, the system will pop up the big maroon locking screen every morning between 8:00 and 8:30 am. Regular programming returns after about 45 seconds (feels like eternity). This causes the loss of any current channel buffer on the DVR.

That's weird that you mentioned that time slot...that's when I see it in Houston and it will turn off the morning news program.

It's been going on here for a while and I tried something different yesterday that seemed to work this morning.

Options

Parental Locking

Turn Off Locking

RESET All Parental Locks

It clears the 4-digit PIN and stops Parental Controls.

Make sure all 6 locking categories are NOT locked/NOT required/Disabled

If you want to go back and do Parental Locking, hopefully it will work (haven't tried it, don't use it).

My guess is there was an addition to the Parental Controls menu that I swear wasn't there before! I think with one of the silent updates, that extra option was turned on by default (for some). So far, so good!
