I am currently using the 24 down speed package with uverse. Is ATT going to up that now that GOOGLE FIBER is giving a 1GIG download speed here?!

I doubt it. AT&T isn't in the market of competing with FiOS FTTP currently, why would they compete with Google FTTP?
AT&T has FTTP in certain areas, however the max profile on fiber that they offer is 25Mbps/2Mbps I believe. It's simply not cost effecient for them.... However they, as with most providers, transport the data to your area with Fiber then from there use twisted pair (copper) to premises.
I have FiOS available in my area and Google moving in soon which offer >100Mbps but it's like 200$/month for internet only.

Outside of my apartment the DSL speed is 60mbps. From the connection inside of my apartment to the router it is limited to 24....
With that now established it would give the impression that there is room to work with. So I am wandering why att is limiting me sooo much.
