CHASLANE - So you press the guide button & you do not get the guide??
Does the green light blink?
If yes, the STB received the IR & is sloooooow.
If no, either theIR signal is corrupted or the button contact is bad (you would be the first to report this).
The IR signal is fragile - See this - http://www.nilesaudio.com/media/ir.php
Try pointing at the ceiling, floor or back wall. Or, hiding the STB.
What do you mean about the other TVs??
They have the same problem?
The first remote controls other TVs? If yes, well. it's the same IR & works best bouncing off a wall.

A very "low-tech" possibility is that the front surface of the remote needs cleaning--I discovered that my dog likes to lick objects on the coffee table sometimes (amongst many other household items) and a quick cleaning cleared up my inconsistent remote performance.
