Phil Schoen left GOL TV.
FOX Soccer senior producer Nick Webster has left FOX Soccer as of last week.
GolTV's contracts with DIRECTV, Comcast, Time Warner Cable/Bright House Networks, Cablevision, Charter, and Cox are all up after this year.
The new channel, beIN Sports USA has hired Phil Schoen

Note that I'm not saying it's going away for sure. I'm saying that things are changing, which we already knew...how they'll change is anyone's guess, but the future (I'm guessing here) cannot be good for GOL TV.

Phil Shoen has stated that this isn't an official site for the beIn Sports USA. network
From Twitter:
To the best of my knowledge, the [at]beINSportsUSA account & the associated webpage have no official connection to the new network.
Regardless, GolTV is in trouble without their bread and butter (Spanish La Liga) and who knows what programming tier they'll end up on after the latest round of carriage negotiations with satellite/cable providers.

Not just GolTV, but Espn en EspaÑol and Fox Deportes will feel the brunt of the newcomer in the USA.
I refuse to watch soccer from Colombia, Brasil, Mexico and even Argentina, never mind the "lesser" european leages too. People pay to watch 1st Class Sports on their TV's, and they will GO wherever the better games are. Simple.
Those broadcasters will go belly up REAL soon !!!!

GolTv is going to lose most of their already small audience this year now that their best content is gone.
They probably need to sell the company before their distribution deals come up for renewal. Unless they are going to bring in a big money backer. Otherwise they are in a death spiral where their revenue drops and they can't compete for rights.
Selling the company to BeInSport may be the silver bullet for both sides.

DirecTV customers started getting letters informing them that Gol TV would be removed from the sports pack effective 9/13/12. The channel will still be available on the Spanish tiers. I wonder if U-verse will make a similar move.

Does that even make sense? They're removing Spanish programming, but leaving the channel on the Spanish tiers only? Surely the Spanish programming will be replaced with something else, possibly in another language, that may appeal to Sports Fans. I'm hoping so because I signed up for the UVerse Sports Pack to get GolTV specifically to watch German Bundesliga games. I kind of hope this other entity consumes them and takes up the Bundesliga action instead of just going away.

Just speculation on my part, but if Gol TV gets demoted from English sports pack to Spanish tiers across various providers, then Gol TV would probably sublicense the English language rights of the German Bundesliga to some other entity like ESPN, Fox Soccer or beIN Sport. Wouldn't be fair to make people sign up for Spanish tiers to have access to English commentary German soccer.
