The free previews have to be planned months in advanced and are OK'ed by the individual providers like showtime or TMC or whomever. If AT&T lets all subscribers have a free preview without the permission of the channel, they get fined for every subscriber who is not a PAID subscriber. I bet the free previews are scheduled for the rest of the year, and this just happend to fall on this weekend.

Bewards, you are correct. The free Movie Package preview for July 15th - 18th was mentioned on page 4 of the Summer 2010 U-Guide which I received on June 12th.

Interesting that they say it's "all access" with two channels of TMCHD. However, you'll notice that TMC has TMCHD, TMC West HD, TMC Xtra HD, and TMC West HD.
Apparently, it's every SD channel EXCEPT for HBO and Cinemax, which is expected. HBO and Cinemax are NOT part of the Movie Pack.
The only channels apparently NOT part of the preview are:
1884 TMC Xtra HD
1885 TMC Xtra HD West
We'll have to check these channels later in the week.
Here's the list. Don't freak out if it's inaccurate. CHANNELS IN BOLD ARE EXCLUSIVE TO STANDARD DEFINITION AND ARE NOT AVAILABLE AS PART OF THE FREE PREVIEW IN HIGH DEFINITION.
852 Showtime
853 Showtime West
854 Showtime 2
855 Showtime 2 West
856 Showtime Showcase
857 Showtime Showcase West
858 Showtime Extreme
859 Showtime Exteme West
860 Showtime Beyond
862 Showtime Family Zone
864 Showtime next
866 Showtime M
882 TMC
883 TMC West
884 TMC Xtra
885 TMC Xtra West
890 Flix
902 Starz
903 Starz West
904 Starz Edge
906 Starz Black
908 Starz Cinema
910 Starz Comedy
912 Starz Kids & Family
914 Indie
916 Retro
932 Encore
933 Encore West
934 Encore Love
936 Encore Mystery
938 Encore Action
940 Encore Western
942 Encore Drama

Aren't these channels all part of the U-300 package anyway? If so, then the people with U-300 aren't really getting anything except maybe added promo commercials about subscribing to something they already subscribe to anyway.

LOL. Uni, it would not be much of a credit.
$20/30 days x 4 days = $2.67

You don't get credit for that. You know that, you've been around for a few free previews! ![]()

I'll take anything I can get Texasguy.
That $2.67 would pay almost 1/4 of my gov't surcharges/service fees/taxes. ![]()
edit: BTW, wasn't that nice of me to start this thread when it does not benefit me at all. ![]()
Bedwards, yeah just trying to keep the urban legend going that you might get credit for these free movie promos and the laughing smiley says it all. ![]()

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!
I just called customer service and spoke with a csr. I complained vigorously that I was paying top dollar and getting nothing free , while subs paying much less were getting freebies. Complaining nicely, I might add.
THE RESULT- I was put on hold for about three minures, when the csr returned he gave me $10 off for six months,.

That really isn't "breaking news." It's been said many times over that companies can go through "great lengths" to keep customers around. After all, they'd rather get 90% of your money (or even 60% of it) than 0% of the money.
Really, if all anyone cares about are the movie channels, it's better to get the U-200. With so many free previews, just save about 11-15 movies during each free preview and those should be enough to keep you busy until the next free preview.
Unless you need one of those channels in the U-300 which is NOT a movie channel, the U-200 should suit most people fine.

one thing that wouldn't work as you have to have the package to watch it after the free preview

oh really since when i have had the u-200 for many many months and have never had to subscribe to a movie package to watch a movie i previously recorded id say you fail on this
(See what a lack of punctuation does? It makes messages very hard to deciper. I'd suggest you use periods, commas, and capitalization next time.)
