You can use most of fancast's features without being a subscriber to Comcast.
Similarly, ATT has a selection of shows you can watch if you are a subscriber (http://entertainment.att.net/tv).
You can not hook up your STB to your computer to watch remotely. Slingbox (third party hardware) might work, as noted above.

Actually you could. If you have a PC with a TV Tuner Card or Video Capture card, you could. Simply output the STB to the card and you can view on your PC. I suppose that if you did that, you could even watch it from Timbuktu via freeware Orb software but not sure how you would run the U-Verse remote from Timbuktu. ![]()

I've seen their commercials, is that watching EVERY CHANNEL in your package on TV? Even Premiums like HBO, Showtime?

I think the OP is confused. Sites like fancast, entertainment.att.net/tv, Hulu etc don't require subscriptions for Comcast, U-Verse or anything like that. In fact, a lot of people drop their pay services b/c they can get so much programing from those websites. It's not "watching my U-verse TV". It's going to a website and watching some of the programs offered by those sites.
"Watching my U-Verse TV" sounds more like the ability to watch the contents of your DVR on your computer. That's what a product like Slingbox is for.

A perk of UV is the use of ESPN360 for additional live and archived games. Many providers participate with that one, however.

ESPN360 is a great site; however, it only provides some ESPN sports programming which may not be the type of programming the OP is seeking.

I came here looking for the same answer, and I think there is indeed some confusion as you have said. Sure, fancast has limited public facing content just as Hulu does. What we are talking about is not slingbox, or some way to remotely access your DVR. It is online access via a website to Comcast subscribers. Your access is based on your cable subscribtion level. If you subscribe to HBO for example, you can stream HBO shows.
I wonder if Uverse has similar plans?
Some more info is here.

If your goal is to watch "LIVE" TV on your PC, even Comcast's Xfinity isn't set up for that, (Nor do any of the other on-line sites, Hulu, Fancast, AT&T Entertanment) For that, you still need a Slingbox.

No, I'm not talking about "live" TV via online delivery. Yes I know, Xfinity does not do this. What it does do is deliver additional streamable content to subscribers that is not available online, or at least not without a fee. My question is, (and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone here) is when will AT&T offer this same level of service to it's own subscribers?

You're right it's called TV Everywhere confirmed by a video I saw on MSNBC a few days ago. The Video was an interview with the CEO of Time Warner he confirmed HBO and the other TW offerrings are on board. Just as you said you'll have to log in thru your ISP. The news is Comcast seems to have beat everyone to the punch.

I am a "newbie" to this forum and the U-verse service and had the same question as the original. I have used Slingbox in the past with mixed results. The problem tended to be he upload capability of the DSL service I had and was not able to "speed up".That was the major reason to get U-verse which also allowed me to discontinue DirecTv. I am in the process of having the Slingbox reconnected, but during the installation of U-verse, my wife was told that Sling wasn't necessary since we could watch recorded programming online. He did say that we cound not watch live programming, but I rarely use the Sling for that anyway. I have yet to find out how to access the online remote viewing capability of U-verse, but would love to hear if anyone can steer my in the correct direction. I made a post of a simillar nature before I saw this thread.
The installer did say they anticipated having the ability to watch live programming in the near future. TIA for the infomation and I will post any thing I find out.

Here is the link to the ATT site AFAIK there is no live content. I did notice they have changed the interface and upgraded the content somewhat since I was there last. Let me make a small correction I'm not sure there was any specific indication that all shows or even what shows would by webcast or multicast live if you prefer. The ATT site IMO is not fully functional at this time as it does not require you to log in. I'm just trying to be as straight forward as possible

I've visited the site before, and just had another look. It does aggregate alot of content available elsewhere online, which is nice. It doesn't however seem to contain any full episodes from premium channels that I can find. Doesn't seem to matter if I login either. As mentioned earlier, no provider actually offers truly live content online. I would imagine ATT&T will eventually match Comcast on offering on demand premium content based on our service level.

Thanks for the input, I did see the content available from the ATT site. I guess I will have to wait and see when availability to access one's recorded shows will happen. Until that time will still have to use the Slingbox. I am curious to see what the additional upload speed will make on the viewing of the Slingbox.
I'm quite sure you'll sooner see on-demand versions of the programs you're looking for, rather than remote access to your set top box. Slingbox has a pretty good reputation for this use. I'm suprised it doesn't work better for you. I have the 6mbps down 1mbps up internet access myself. 1mbps is pretty generous for upstream bandwidth, as compared to other providers. In fact, Uverse Internet access is superior to any other acess provider I've ever used.
If you're at a service level that has less than 1mpbs up, you might try upping that.

Pixel,
Thanks for the heads up, the problem I had before was I wasn;t able to get the upload speed more than about 400 the DSL service. I am sure that if I had gotten 1 mb, I would be dancing in the streets. I haven't gotten the Slingbox up and running, because I haven't been home since the Uverse was installed. I am curious to see how much it help. I actually have two Slingboxes on different STB's and was using a wireless bridge before, and now both are 'supposed" to be hardwired to the STB/DVR, so we will see what happens when I get it all hooked up and configured. I suspect that Sling box is going to charge me for this, but I am not savvy enough to do it on my own. The reports I have gotten from home indicate that they think the TV is better than DirecTv and the internet is much faster and stable.....so so far so good!
