Hello all! Want to move to U-Verse (U300 video) from Comcast but am having a hard time finding out if U-Verse On Demand has programming from the major networks like NBC/CBS/ABC/Fox/Discovery and the History channel. My local AT&T store just has a demo "loop" running with basic menu features displayed...salesperson could not demo On Demand programming. My wife utilizes Comcast On Demand for any major network shows she has missed ("Bones, "House", "The Closer", etc.) and I utilize it for things like "Ice Road Truckers", "Pawn Stars", etc.. Any or all of these on U-Verse's On Demand in HD? There needs to be more "On Demand" info. at the U-Verse site! Thanks!

I am not a big fan of Comcast but they do have vastly superior On Demand services. U-Verse On Demand has nowhere near as many programs or services. They have 9 NBC series and 10 CBS. There are some family/kids channels and some free Showtime programming. The premium channels are available if you are a subscriber. There have been frequent complaints on this site about particular episodes of series being unavailable. This may be a network problem (ie HBO) or an ATT problem.

Thanks for the extra info...I think it is a "Comcast owns the world" type problem...unless the govt. blocks it Comcast will own NBC/Universal and all their channels...Comcast has access to more content than ATT due to their mergers (Fox Sports Net, etc, etc), and that will magnify exponentially with the NBC/Universal merger. Comcast will then "turn the screws" on ATT/UVerse (programming contract-wise). I really wanted to go UVerse, but this and other probs.(loss of "Food Network", etc.) may keep me with Comcast. ![]()

I agree. We just switched to U-Verse and discovered that, although the channel lineup includes BBCA, they don't have it in the On Demand collection. And UverseOnline has only a couple of curmmy programs. If I had known about this before, we would not have switched everything over to U-Verse. We'll probably stick with it through the 6-month promotion period but if we don't see better On Demand content by February, we'll drop U-Verse TV.

Example: I checked out my sons Comcast On Demand and they had CSI on there all up to date. I checked my Uverse On Demand and the CSI they had was a rerun from a month ago. AT&T is severely lacking in the On Demand choices.

After moving I set up U-Verse in my new place, after having had both FIOS and Comcast in the recent past. The biggest disappointment with U-Verse has been the on demand services. As others have mentioned, there are far fewer networks and far fewer shows. But even the shows they do have, they typically only have four episodes available. The other providers keep building a season, but leave the older episodes up until the whole season is available.
It's enough of an issue that I will probably switch away from U-verse. I never watch TV "live", so on-demand is important to me.

Go to video on demand and then to free on demand and then networks. All 3 major networks as well as many cable networks are listed there. I have begun questioning why record network shows on the dvr when they are available on demand?

One reason would be because the FF may be disabled on the VOD offering. I noticed this on DWtS last week. Although there were fewer commercials (total run time 1:45 vs 2:00) you couldn't skip the ones that were left. And if you rewind to catch something, you then have to run forward at normal speed, even after you've seen what you wanted to see.

NBC is the same way, they still want their advertising, though not as bad as broadcast TV. CBS has FF enabled, or it did last time I used it for VOD and I believe FOX had FF as well.

There are also several shows which are listed in VOD, but are never actually available to play. Most PBS kids shows are listed, but when you try to play them, they always say they're "not currently available."

never had a problem watching VOD, if you are getting that message, unplug your DVR or STB, wait approximately 30 seconds and plug it back in. If you are still unable to watch, try resetting your RG.
