If I am understanding what you are referring to as the "filter", I turned on one of my stbs recently and the guide background color was burgundy. It looked interesting, and for a moment I thought UV was giving us the option to change the color. But after a few minutes it reverted back to blue.
Yes, you kno when you have the program guide or prgram info screen is on and the program that you are watching has blue filter while in the lowr right corner there is screen with unfiltered view of the program.

This is my biggest beef with the service thus far? Is there ANY way to change the settings to a 30 second fast foward??? I don't understand the thought process behind 38 seconds?
The 10 second ewind is also better than the U Verse 7 second

As a former TiVo user, I miss the recently deleted folder and the keyword search. Also, they guide display could be improved
And, of course, either get LOT8s or NBC Weather+

I have had U-Verse for a month now & I am still not sure if I will keep it. These are features I am hoping to get -
- Future Air Times
Whether I am in the guide, watching the program or using my arrows to browse.
- Reminders
While in the program info, I would like to say remind me in 5, 15, 30 minutes
- Yahoo Guide
I would like to be able to set recordings from Yahoo. I always get an error. The last time I called, I was on hold for 45 minutes, at this point, I have better things to spend my time on.
I would like to see more channels at once, or be able to set up favorites by indivdual.
I would like to see more time spans at one time.
- Categorize by Genre
- Football Package
I was very disappointed to learn that there wasn't a package I could purchase during football season that allows me to watch every game. I had this option on my last cable vendor.
The same for Hockey would be great!
- VOD
I would like to go to an online guide to see what VOD is coming in the future.
I would like the VOD I pay for to actually be the movie I expected.
I would like the VOD I pay for to play without exiting to tv without a remote button getting pressed.
- Info Button
When using the arrows to browse programs while watching a prgram, I would like to hit info to learn about the program, then the back button to exit the info and return to my previous place.
I would like to use this button without having to press ok to return to tv and then go back to browsing.
I would like it if this button did not mute my tv.
- HD vs DVR
I would like to record 2 programs in HD and watch a third on a seperate tv. As of now, it asks if I want to disrupt another user.
- DVR
I am still not thrilled with this - I have nothing but little annoyances with the performance. I hope it gets tweaked.

Hey guys,
I just had Uverse U200 installed yesterday with internet, and I was formerly with Comcast for the previous 3 years. It took a lot of thinking to finally decide to make this change. One of the major reasons was that I believed that AT&T was much more in tune with the changing trends in technology and that they would listen to their customer requests to improve the service. I've only had one night with the system, and so far I like it, but I couldn't wait to jump on this forum and list the things that I already have found to be missing and/or needed.
1.Recording Options
a. I was disappointed in the options that are given for series recording. The Comcast box allowed the user to create a series recording and tell the system how many episodes to keep. Uverse does not allow this flexibility and appears to only have one option which is to keep every single episode in a series unless I delete some myself or space runs out. For example, I watch Conan O'Brien sometimes, but I'm only interested in the current episode, so I only want to keep the very latest episode that has been recorded. It's a pain for me to have to keep deleting...
b. There needs to be more control over how and when the device decides to record. How does the system know if an episode is a rerun or not? Is it based solely on the text data that is input by someone at TV guide or something? I scheduled a series recording for Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia to record only new episodes, but looking at my recording schedule I can see a bunch of episodes scheduled to record that are NOT new. I wish there was enough options so I could say; record this show, ONLY on this channel, ONLY on this day of the week, ONLY at this (or these) specified time(s). That would alleviate any errors in deciding if a show is new or not based on it's description field.
c. Attempting to create a series recording for Project Runway, I did a text search, found the show and clicked to see all the results so I could choose only the newest episode. There were a ton of results, because Bravo runs the show constantly, but the new episode for this coming Wednesday was NOT on the list. I had to manually find it in the guide first before I could create the series recording. What's going on here? Is there perhaps a limit to the amount of occurrences of a show that the system will show me in the search results? If so, it needs to be fixed!
d. Stopping a recording past the scheduled time is very useful, but why is the smallest amount I can choose 5 whole minutes? If all I want is a minute, that's 4 minutes of wasted hard drive space I'd rather keep.
2. OnDemand
Comcast has AT&T beat hard in this category. There was a ton more content available through Comcast, like highlights from the Olympic Games, the Dem and Rep conventions, and a just a whole slew of stuff. The selection on Uverse pales in comparison. Can we expect this to improve?
3. Compression/Quality
I was shocked when I discovered that the technician brought my HDTV and internet service into the house all on one CAT 5 wire and terminated it with a puny little RJ11 connector. Especially after seeing the Broadband port on the back of the head unit, which apparently doesn't get used. Weather or not this matters I don't know, but what I do know for sure is that Uverse just doesn't look quite as good as my Comcast service did. I hooked it up with HDMI just as I did with Comcast and it is definitely worse. This is probably the biggest disappointment of all. I notice it especially when I'm watching HD channels. The compression is just far more apparent and I have to wonder why? Why are they squashing the signal quality so much? And why are they using the RJ11 port when there's a nice big Ethernet port next to it? Can someone explain this?
I haven't had much time with the internet or played anything online with my PS3, but I will post my experience later. I do hope that someone from AT&T pays attention to these forums!

that is for fiber optical to the house (newer subdivisions)
the tv portion is iptv technology so the pic is the same with copper or fiber optics to the premise imho
its fiber to the vrad then copper to the house last 3000 ft or less .....
u want to read up on it ???? i aint splaining lol http://www.intellon.com/pdfs/IPTV_White_Paper.pdf (brand x but good read)

I think there a lot of people in the Southeastern Michigan area wish that AT&T WOULD add CBET-TV Channel 9 to the line up, there's a lot of hockey fans here and if they're not wtching the Red Wings, they watch Hockey Night in Canada.
Add another PBS STATION.
One thing that I do appreciate about Uverse that cable and satellite des not do, is that all UHF chnnels are on the same channnel as therir broacast channel., i.e., Channel 50 is channel 50, not channel 5 or ch. 56 is ch. 56, not ch. 12 or whatever.

Here is a site that you can give all of those suggestions to. This is the peer-peer forum that it is rumored that some ATT employees read. But to make sure ATT sees your request/suggestion post them at that site.

For everybody in the Detroit area, there needs to be a 24/7 local news channel in Detroit. Chicago has CLTV
(Chicagoland TV), folks in Tampa Bay that have Bright House cable have Bay News 9. There are a lot of people I'm sure that would want a 24/7 Metro Detroit news channel.

My List:
1. Please add the ability to search / sort by category (kids, sports, etc.).
2. Have a guide that only shows what I am subscribed to... Why would you show any more????? Unchecking those channels I don't have is frustrating
3. When you are creating favorites, you should be able to add a channel from the guide and when in the favorites setup, allow to enter a channel number to jump to that channel so you can add it.
Thanks for listening!

1) multiple favorites lists
2) delete channels from the guide at the guide screen (instead of having to burrow down into settings)
3) it's Windows CE on the STBs, give us web-tv
4) it's Windows CE on the STBs, we have Yahoo internet, give us launchcast radio instead of that crappy URGE
5) it's Windows CE on the STBs, enable a windows media extender plugin so we can stream from our windows media centers
6) if you set the STB to 1080i, it should scale up any thing less so I don't have to watch a 27 inch picture on my 42 inch screen
7) fix the audio sync and drop-out issues

I think you all should pass this link around so that you all can send emails directly to ATT.

This feature is the number one feature I would add to U-Verse DVR.

Besides the need for choosing the number of episodes to keep and more robust options for scheduling, I found some more annoying issues with the DVR....
1. There seems to be no way to start a recording early. I've seen others in this thread mention it too. Seems like a simple thing to address....
2. There is no way to priortize the shows that are scheduled to record, which if available, would automatically resolve any potential conflicts that occur. The way it is now, you have to manually make adjustments for any conflict that arises, and it fails to alert you ahead of time!.
3. When 2 scheduled-to-record HD shows are back to back on the same channel, and another HD show on a different channel is scheduled to record at the same time as one of these others, a conflict arises!!??. The system is not smart enough to realize that there should be no conflict....It should see that two of the shows are on the same channel, and avoid any overlap recording!!
4. On the subject of conflicts, it would be great if you could set an HD recording to have an "in case of conflict" setting that would record the program on it's standard definition channel if an HD conflict arise.
Why does it take us to figure out all these problems/tweaks/suggestions? Seems like we're doing someone else's job here.....

No conflict should arise in this scenario. Can you give a specific example of when this has caused a problem?

Well I can assure you that conflicts do arise in this scenario. Specifically, last Thursday we had scheduled "The Office" and "Community" to record, both on NBC HD, as well as "Project Runway" on Bravo HD. My wife just by chance was browsing things that were scheduled and noticed that the DVR said that there was a conflict and that it needed to be resolved. ( We would have never known it because the system doesn't make it a point to alert you in advance). She had to select one of them to not record, so she chose Project Runway, and the conflict was resolved.
This has happened on more than one occasion!

I don't disbelieve that you had a conflict problem. I'm simply saying in the scenario that you described, no conflict should be created. If this scenario gives you a conflict, there is a problem. I'm trying to help troubleshoot the problem.
Where any SD recordings scheduled at the same time as those 3 HD recordings?
Tonight, the following programs are shown in the Guide:
NBC HD: The Biggest Loser8: Second Chances (7:00-9:00 PM CDT)
CBS HD: NCIS (7:00-8:00 PM CDT); NCIS: Los Angeles (8:00-9:00 PM CDT)
As I understand it, this is similar to the scenario that you described. Is that correct?
If this is correct, assuming that you are on the 2 HD/ 2 SD profile and these are the only recordings scheduled during those time periods, you should have no problem scheduling all 3 programs without conflict
