I really REALLY want to switch ISP's asap but only DSL has been an option from at&t in my area. Now, when I check U-verse availability it shows the internet but only the basic option of 768kbps which I don't know who would even get that. What exactly does that mean? Will the other options become available soon such as the Max ones?

I suggest you call CS using the phone number in my sig and speak to a CSR about the availability of Uverse in your area. Some people have posted that when they checked online to see if UV was in their area it said it wasn't. But upon calling CS they not only found out it was available but got it installed as well. Can't hurt trying at least.

Better yet call at least 3 times and see how many different answers you get. If it's questionable, I wouldn't mess with it, because you could end up with crappy Uverse speed/reliability and no switching back to DSL, because apparently the policy is, once they turn off a DSL account for Uverse they will not switch it back.
